  1. I didn't get the skin. Didn't even try. I would be getting the skin under this plan because I logged in, and I don't think that's right.

There is value in keeping things exclusive. Handing out the rewards to everyone cheapens the experience.

I would vote no, but not because those people earned it, because participation trophies are bad for everyone.

  2. I can't remember if it was the entire time we had that old visual threat system, but we could also opt out of matches. You could decline op you didn't want to fight.

    Terrible idea. Let's explore it.

What if, when the mm can't find close enough-ish teams to match, instead of just throwing more lower rating players to auto-lose, the mm puts the highest rated players in a "lobby". Let's say its crims. Out of these 40 crims, the 3 or so are higher mmr than the top ends, so the mm is having a hard time getting a group of enfs to start a match.

Currently, these top crims have to wait and eventually mm puts together an auto-lose team. Instead, let people opt in/out of a lobby with active pvp for those who opt in, but don't spawn the first objective until both sides have an even-ish match. Choose objectives "balanced" for the number of players. For those that opt out, no one wants them anyway, and they don't want to be there. Let solos and groups join so the mmr balance can flip back and forth until the practically the whole district finally makes it even enough to drop an objective. At City Hall.

    Call it, Anarchy District.

    Still a terrible idea.

  3. Hi Matt,

You alluded to the most important topic to address in your post, but it's not in your list. It's the declining population. We need to hear about short term plans to at least maintain the number of current players.

We know about the long term plans. People will come back for whatever is hyped as the "engine update".

But for the people who are still playing, you need to give them a reason to stay. The holiday events are good, but at this point they're expected. Adding a new game mode is great. When the events are over, you need to keep going.

Look at other f2p games now and model their incentives. Login bonuses, double xp weekends, premium weekends, loot boxes. G1 started a mini-event system but abandoned it like they did the refer a friend system.

Either that topic, or ir3 and presets.

    Thanks for reading.

Makes it really, really easy to see who the bad players are. The Improved Rifling "nerf" is actually a significant buff for the OBIR, as the way it interacts with the burst tightens the grouping. Meanwhile, it doesn't really affect the fire interval in any relevant way, which effectively negates the "downside" Improved Rifling has.

So it gives both the range bonus and the handling bonus to some guns. My point is separate these two bonuses to different mods, and make HB relevant in the process - because thats was what HB was supposed to do in the first place.

I think we can all agree that the lower rof is good in some ways and bad in other ways. When it's good, you get the bonus of extra range as well, when it's bad, you're not going to use it just for the extra range. It just doesn't make sense as a "downside" and should be separated from the extra range. It's also already more popular than HB - which has the longer ttk downside implemented poorly.

  5. Yes they accomplish these goals, but not in a way that makes sense considering HB isnt used and bloom control has become the primary benefit of IR.

They did these things before the changes to IR right? So why did they change anything? To make it work better in practice, obviously. The changes didnt make things better, it just caused different problems.

  6. Yeah but think about it. HB isn't really used and IR in it's current state is great for some guns and terrible in others.

In theory these 3 red mods should give distinct bonuses something like: rate of fire, extra range, and bloom reduction.

CJ is in a good enough place not to touch it.

IR didnt have enough of a downside so it became almost default if CJ isnt the right choice. The extra range itself should be attractive enough to choose it. As it is now it's like a couple extra meters as an bonus to the primary benefit of easier control (lower rof).

So separate those bonuses from IR and put the easier control into HB. Which is the point of HB.
