Why does maintenance take so long? What is the need for it?

Hi, i was looking at many ways to be able to run fallen earth on my Mac. I’m a fan of fallen earth since 2012 and I wish to get back however this time around since the classic has been released i can’t play due to the MacOS. Does anyone know any applications that can run fallen earth for me on a Mac?
