Installing DirectX...

Recommended Posts

Good evening guys,

Does anyone else have an issue where the launcher always starts by saying Installing DirectX, no matter how many times you've launched the games (and you've already installed DirectX)?

Takes like 3-4 minutes for this to go through it's process every time I try to launch the game.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Salem

Control panel, search "device manager", the one that requires admin to enter, go to your GPU drivers, pick your GPU, disable it and then enable. Try again.

EDIT: Usually fixes any Directx issues for me. Sorry if it didn't work for you.

Salem

Можно узнать какой у вас Windows ?

go to C:Programfiles)86x)/steam/steamapps/gamersfirst/apbreloaded/tpi
Open TPI.xml with notepad and remove this line;

<InstallerInfo>
<Name>DirectX</Name>
<DllRelativePath>DirectX\DirectXInstaller.DLL</DllRelativePath>
<SetupFileRelativePath>DirectX\DirectX_June2010program</SetupFileRelativePath>
</InstallerInfo>

Save the file and delete the DirectX/exe file
It will not try to update/install it again

can do this for all iteams in tpi folder if want to

The launcher will just replace those files and the lines the XML files, as the launcher was designed to replace edited/missing files; now if that behavior has been changed, I'll be amazed.

Best way to get around it is to make a shortcut to the APB executable, and only run the launcher when there is a patch.

Honestly, I don't know why G1 thought it was a great idea to force that DX9 Redistributable to be installed every single time the game is launched, since DX9 hasn't seen a major change from 2010...

You can fix it by creating the registry entry detailed below.

He already has it installed.

He's asking why it's installing every time.

Run the game using the exe file, and you have no problem.

I see why that deserve a downvote tho :^)

Use the advanced launcher OR use a shortcut like "C:\GAMES\Steam Library\SteamApps\common\APB Reloaded\Binaries\APBprogram" -lbl -pktlag=0 -noamdtsc -nomoviestartup -noverifygc

Hello brother, you can avoid the delay by running the apbprogram straight from the binaries folder. Just navigate there and create a shortcut and plop it on the taskbar. Cuts load time way down.

Word filter won't let me say E X E

The registry fix worked tho ...

Dont understand why but w/e ._.

Edit: So I just looked up the standard value on my notebook where I don't have this problem with directx. It was already

04.18.2011

With the registry fix I changed the value on my PC to this one (04.18.2011) and it fixed the problem.

I didn't look up the value before I changed it (I'm stupid..), but I guess it was a different one ...

Just type in windows search "regedit", open it and go to this path

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\GamersFirst\APB]
"directX ShipDate"="04.18.2011"

Then you can look up your value.

The idea is to add the whole lot if you do not have any trace in your registry.

Use this, extract and double click on it to add.
