Will APB ever be what RTW intended it to be?

Recommended Posts

I want to be able to buy guns with ingame money.
I want this game to advance and get more districts, racing, casino, cinemas.
What is this ... i loved this game when it was vanilla but the actual state of the game
make my head shake in disbelieve... Please make it a good game, LO. PLEASE! 😢

G1 broke my heart.

Its always such a great feeling everytime they add something new to the game. If its car kits or new weapons or deployables or whatever, any sort of progress. Game feels like its been standing still for a long time though, and the events come and go so they dont really count imo.

Whats so hard in making guns being able to be bought instead of rented.
Whats so hard in making districts instead of cashgrab items? If they wouldnt have used all their efford in milking the tiny community,

it may not have died so fast. I used to love the game until G1 got its hands on it. I really hope LO knows that p2w is not the way.

Because the current engine is the limiting factor. It's way to hard to make new weapons, cars, maps with the unreal engine apb runs on. So they are "Trying" to port it over to the new one for better performance/content. If the engine ever will come out is a mystery.

yeah ive read about that.
really wondering tho what the game might look like in 5 years from now.
the last 8 years didnt change much, only added some stuff here and there which 90% can only be obtained with real cash.

You can rent these guns pretty much forever via just playing.
The game is free how are they suppose to make a return of any kind by giving every thing for free? What kinda slap in the face would it be if they turned our 100s of $$$ worth of weapons into free perm items in game?
Do you Really want to race in a game where the Vegas will just destroy every other contender, sounds boring.
If you really do want to race just ask a friend i'm sure they will gladly race with you around the block or something x3

You made some valid points with that about the racing. I wonder what G1 planned when they announced racing districts. xD
I am not a person that plays only one game, i play so many and something i want to play APB which is didnt really play for 5 years
for the simple fact that i can not keep my stuff. I dont want to be forced to play. I want to earn something and be proud of having it.
They could remove p2w guns and give you store credits for nice COSMETICS, like weapon skins, car skins, premium time, you name it.

I really love your picture.

Its a hard middle ground but I wouldn't mind seeing things like "Crim-slayer/Cops-Bane" be unlockable permanently via roles or something, a few other weapons as well. At the very least you get a no slot perm weapon selector from finishing the tutorial.
If the cars had a bit more uhh any skill other than actually managing to turn the damn thing I'd be okii for a racing dist. I can see the issue if you play multiple games paying 12k every time you log in once in a blue moon honestly sounds terrible which is why I opted to spend money (also because seeing a expire time drives my OCD crazy)

Most of the weapons are not really too p2w but I can think of one that is a bit ridiculous, They should add a new contact to be able to lease a CSG and stuff 100%, joker tickets are a decent alternative but i'm sure most players would prefer in game $$? What even is our characters currency called anyways x33

Also thanks x3

Asks if game will ever be what RTW intended.

I don't really believe there is anything too unreasonable in cash shop. All of it is generally downright worse or fairly easy for an active player to maintain through joker ticket leases. That said I agree that the game NEEDS more ways for free players to obtain content. The game is downright lethargic in that respect and it hurts it on a regular basis.

Then again the game needs more content for it's primary gameplay loops too. So you know.. it needs work. Everyone's been saying that for ages. Eh. Just feel like I'm repeating the same old stuff everyone already knows. So I'll shutup now.

I highly doubt APB as it is now will ever be how RTW intended it. Unless Little Orbit somehow manages to live up to the visions David Jones had for this IP, and would manage to revert everytime Reloaded shattered those visions with horrible decisions.

It would be nice, but then most people's vision for the game is much more than it currently is so either way.

I'm afraid you lost me at P2W.

being able to BUY PERMANENTLY weapons (i remember nano) which otherwise are non obtainable ingame and are superiour (nano - anyone remembers?) are called Pay 2 Win.
and having to grind the game to get a gun for a few days is outright ridiculous.

bye then

What exactly did RTW ever intend this game to be? From what I remember of developer comments there was very little direction in APB's initial development - it was supposed to be a mainly PvE game at the start!

So instead of focusing on one core gameplay aspect they tried to do them all, spent a load of money and did so on a Frankenstein game engine whilst simultaneously incorrectly predicting the future course of PC hardware development. RTW essentially had no vision beyond "Make an online GTA"

That makes me question why they added the customizable avatars, music editor and all that jazz.
back in 2010 the avatar creator was the biggest to that day and a music editor was just insane that it got implemented.
making custom images, spray, clothes. I believe their vision was far beyond "Make an online GTA". If G1 would been making
a online GTA none of that would have been in - and we all know what the game would look like if G1 would have made it from scratch.
But thats not what G1 does anyways. They buy games and all they do is implement an ingame shop and code the game unplayable.

The customisation was part of an idea that APB would be more than just a PVP shooter - it would almost be an MMO with PvE and PvP elements but also have a strong social element to the game.

I wouldn't be so harsh on G1 - most of the initial staff that worked on APB when they took over were remaining RTW devs, and without them the game wouldn't exist as we know it. It's not as if RTW's monetisation strategy was any better.

I feel like the game is fine as it is by development.

It does not need to add more stuff, maps or anything, the game is already complete as it is now. Heck, there is a ton of fake weapon reskins that could be easily remvoed to improve the gun balance since right now there is too many to do anything working enough.

What the game really needs, and G1 always failed to achieve, was a good new player introduction, advertisement and, most importantly, cheater detection. Reduce the cheaters and improve the new players tutorial, and you will see the game at peak success again.

You are not bored from the lack of content. You really are bored from playing always with the same 15 hardtriers, rerolls and cheaters, with the occasional random ragequitting after two missions.

^wot 'e sed

this is the LEAST p2w game i've ever played. makes me cringe so hard when "apb" and "p2w" are used together, it just doesn't go.

i've seen people run around with nothing but the STAR and starter pistol rekting entire teams of armas weps

besides aren't 99% of armas weps just reskins of guns you can get from contacts for free?

as for OP, I'd love to see more customization. we've had the same clothes, hairstyles etc for long enough now.

as for the game, i dunno. i actually thought g1 did a pretty good job, one area g1 were good at was balancing imo.

game-wise, g1 seem to knew what the game was and were actually good at implementing features. the consumables and modifications like carsurfer for example g1 did and then balanced with alig, osmaw, cars. g1 actually did make this game fun and did fix a lot of RTW problems. it' just a shame they sucked in every other regard.

Total costs of APB from 2010 to 2018 (With inflation)

112 million dollars.

UE3.5 need to be a success, in order to gain more players and to make the game great again.

At the moment i only can say.. the 112 million dollars has been thrown into the air.

Of course APB has a huge potential, even a bigger potential then GTA 5 in my eyes.

But if the performance/server/content still goes potato like atm, it will be a flop.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah i know... APB is a real survival hero.. we will see what happens.

every modded GTA 5 server has more players than APB at its peaktime lol.

sure potential is there and i cant unsee that, but only time will tell if 3.5 or even UE 4 will change that.
i think it would have been easier/faster to just rewrite the whole damn thing to UE 4 or whatever engine.

No. UE4 is a such a complett diffrent engine style compared to past UE versions.

Means, LO would need to recreate the complett game in UE4. They can't just rewrite the game to it.

Let them do UE3.5. That's a way easier.

Edit// Though i think you don't want to wait another 2 years.

UE3.5 is better omptimized. There will be a slight amount of graphical changes, but to 80% the performance will be improved.

Means, APB will run on 64bit instead of 32bit like now.
