APB Holiday Events 2018 (Updated)

Not happy with how you can be locked out of obtaining some of the rewards from this event if you have not done it everyday at specific times up to a certain point throughout the event. All rewards from events should be able to be obtained at any point during the duration of the event, especially if its one of the big holiday season events like this. Apparently I am unable to get the rewards that I wanted from this event now as I have only just gotten round to starting it, which I didnt know.

If you do the dailies for both event district types you can still do it, 'cause Slay Bells and 12 Deaths both have dailies and both apply to the role.

 

It'll take more time per day, but it's totally possible.

Yeah but, isn't that your fault?

LO just wants people to play more often, so they offer rewards for those who do.

Its a pretty common strategy.

If he were actually incapable of completing the event, and he had failed to do so because he didn't realize, (as he stated,) then that's just as much LO's fault marketting their event as it is his TBH.

 

Doesn't help to design events to maximize playtime if a player doesn't realize how the event works, lol.

I guess in game announcements of upcoming events would be nice. Since you already get an email, it's posted to the forums, and is announced both on Twitter and Facebook. I mean, short of calling you personally or something, that's really all that's left.

I didn't get an email though?

 

Plus, we're not talking about the event existing, he was talking specifically about the way the rewards work such that you need to play a certain number of days.

I know this is the holidays and all... but can you please finally actively start removing some of the cheaters in the event?

 

Yes they toggle and reroll but who cares - if battleye cant handle it fully auto this is nice a job opening - let someone actively look at their play and these throwaway alt accounts ... what the hell just do something about it. Anything. Or add your own autoaim and be done with it. What the fudge this is so weird talk talk talk but nothing happens to these people. No wonder they laugh about it.

Right but that's the part that isn't LO's fault, ie: him not having the time.

Can we do something about

1. the snowball bug where ppl can insta fire via weapon switching in slay bells

2. being forced to spec instead of continuing to actually play the event?

Alot of ppl are abusing a bug where after firing the hohopgl if you pres the swap weapon button you can instantly fire again and not have to wait. Again its bug abuse and is against the tos to be abusing for an unfair advantage in game. If your eliminated early or join the match as it begins your forced to spectate for 5yrs and nobody is here to watch for that long nor does it get your roles up for the event. Its a waste of time and it could be done better.

No, if you actually read what he said you'd understand he wasn't saying he didn't have time, he was saying he didn't realize in time that he needed to play over several days to get the rewards. (Fact aside that he did realize in time, though I'm not sure he realizes even now that he can do two dailies a day.)

I'm not pointing fingers, I'm just saying that having an event create more player activity by requiring daily participation doesn't realize when someone doesn't realize they need to participate daily. Note that the email doesn't say anything about the reward system, nor does the in-game role description explain it; to understand how the event role works you specifically need to go to the forums.

 

So I repeat, at no point did Raichu complain that he didn't have enough time during the event period, he simply said he didn't realize how the event worked in time.

are you sure this is a bug and not just people using the hohohopgl?

 

it now shoots automatically if you continue to hold the fire button down (similar to a volcano but with up to 6 shots)

It's not, they using the snowball grenade.. all you need to do is thrown snowball grenade, then use your mousewheel to switch to hohopgl, then thrown another snowball grenade, repeat. You are now a snowball machine gun. o.o

Only one of those places states anything implying the fact that you need to play 5-10 days. I get that you're coming from the perspective of someone who cares about APB a lot, plays APB a lot, reads and writes on the forums a lot, and is in the SPCT, but you and I aren't the average player. This isn't about whether or not it's possible to have known the way the event works, clearly it was possible, but obviously Raichu did not catch on to how the event works, and he seems to have stated that he would have been happy to put in the effort had he known.

 

I would have figured this would be something you'd agree with since you were the one trying to pull in the average player who doesn't participate in or read the forums the other day.

I just think this reward structure design is really odd and shouldnt be in place for a big main seasonal event. Im fully aware of how daily and weekly grind things work to keep people playing and subscribbed to mmo's, but these things are usually when the system is in place indefinately so there never comes a point where its impossible for anyone to get the rewards, it will just take longer if they miss days or weeks. The only time rewards should be impossible to get from an event, especailly a big popular seasonal one, is when the event is over.

At first I wasn't sure but over the past 2 days, I found myself saying to myself actually this is pretty fun.

No complaints about the daily activities,

 

My only constructive criticism is that this Slay bells had more than 2 teams again and with the server populations so low, at times it has been just 2 people on 1 team vs everyone else.

Match making is not at all problem as people will join in when they can, but it is a shallow player pool which makes for thinner teams and a greater opposition in total despite being balanced.

Some will like this more greater competitive game play, some will just not care and wanting to have fun with snowball fights, and some may feel it's a bit harsh. Personally I'm kinda in middle.

 

More than 2 team is a fun and competitive idea, but it may not be practical at times.

All this event are looking like grind for me in some Korean MMORPG. Especially 20 activities for a title. IMO event should be revarded because you just playing and doing something.

 I want to have fun and I’m not looking for a second job.

 You having fun - devs have online. This is how it’s should be.

Ppl are doing this with the hohopgl as well firing it instantly instead of the cooldown and windup.

The hohohopgl is full-auto this year. One windup, then fires til empty.

@MattScott @Lixil can we change slay bells up abit? Its completely smart that the dist needs more then 5 ppl to start up let alone 10 and the game doesnt have the pop to keep the dist going so it dies out halfway through the day in Jericho leaving ppl unable to complete the dailies. Ive lost 2 dailies due to no pop in this mode and this will only get worse as more ppl stop playing the event as it gets closer to the end of the event. As it stands now the slay bells server is only populated for about 1/4 of the day which is next to nothing and warrents a pop of at least 4 to start up. This will increase the duration the server is alive before it dies out and give ppl off peak hrs a chance to do the dailies,
