So you've proven you care about the game... when are you going to start caring about the players?

Recommended Posts

Toxicity is an issue, and just because you're fine with it, or say that people who are bothered by it should just stop reading chat, doesn't make it less of a problem. Hexerin phrased things poorly in his topic, but he's trying to bring up a serious issue.

There's been plenty of harassment issues in the past, which have forced people to leave the game. It has been going on both inside and outside of the game, and if you have the slightest knowledge of this community's history, you know it's not something you can just close your eyes to and make it go away. Furthermore there should never be acceptable to be spouting racial or derogatory slurs in district chat, and much less insinuating that people should kill themselves.

It's hurtful for the game's growth overall, where new players will be even less inclined to stick around after reading district chat, and receiving insult upon insult for just trying to get to grips with the game.

Only reason I can see why someone would be actively against enforcing these policies, is if they themselves are actively participating in this "banter", and are worried that it would endanger their account.

This thread doe not come off as realistic and accurate.
Yes there were some toxic trolls in the past.
Yes I have personally seen staff deal with some toxic trolls on Jericho RECENTLY and have not seen any toxic like that bad since. (there's always someone who taunts but that isn't toxicity that's just competition ribbing me and others so put your bullets in them like you should)
Yes they care and no they cant be online 24/7 there is no funding for it and people need to sleep sometime.
Yes this thread title comes off as toxic to me and if I was a new player I  would actually make me think twice about playing  APB (it's counter productive)
Yes they care about harassment which is why they've worked on the friends list which was a part of that.
Personally I find how you do things toxic in itself and it bothers me.
If I missed anything I'm sure others can reply to you......

You have all these rules and codes of conduct, yet you prove on a daily basis that you have absolutely no intention of actually enforcing any of it. Reporting stuff to support is useless, as report tickets are universally ignored. There's horrifically rampant verbal abuse of others, explicit sexual/pornographic messages in public chat, blatant dethreating, outright griefing of both missions and players, etc etc etc.

The people doing this crap even taunt about it in public chat channels, because they know they won't suffer any repercussions for their actions. We have no GMs (wearing the tag doesn't make you a GM, sorry not sorry), support ignores tickets, and threads on the forum are unceremoniously censored and locked.

This touted "district phasing and matchmaking overhaul" isn't going to do a damn thing, and anyone capable of free thought knows this. It doesn't matter how good your matchmaking is, as all forms of automated systems can (and will) be exploited for player gain. The only solution to this behaviour is to mete out punishment to those who engage in it, period.

So, @MattScott. When are you going to start caring about your players? When will you hire a round-the-clock ingame moderation team, that can at a moment's notice respond to cries of distress from victims of toxic behaviour? When will you fast lane terms of service violation report tickets (with an accompanying punishment for those who abuse it, of course)?

If you choose to ignore these problems as you have consistently been showing you intend to, the game will die just like before... and it's already started as can be seen by checking readily available public data.

Incoming censure and account action for daring to speak up on this issue.

You even read the CoC? Half the stuff G1 had before litterally disappeared from it. I still never got replies about breasts as peoples images in a forum topic asking if they were okay or not. Most of the toxicity isnt even that bad, offensive? yes, but completely /ignorable.

No its not and you and your people is trying to make it an issue, and it will never be.

They're not ignoring tickets though, it's people like you who send in tickets about every little thing that pretty much congest the whole system. Seriously how many tickets have you sent in now...? Because as I recall the last time I called you out on it I remember seeing a little over a dozen tickets you've filed. I've filed 1 ticket in the entire time I've been apart of this community and I've probably gone through just as much harrassment, vulgar language as someone like you but I don't really seem to have as many issues with the support as you do.

Maybe you need to stop being so hyper-sensitive and just play the damn game like everyone else at this point. What you'd define by "care" is completely subjective. I don't really care if there are GM's in-game I never wanted their presence before and It's not something highly desirable now, I just want them to plan more events ones that preferably give us rare items for completing them, have more sales etc. Asking that a small studio like LO is going to hire a full-time moderation team is just expecting and demanding too much. There are other things on the itinerary which are more pressing right now, like making sure that the engine update goes through successful and integration with the console platforms also happens.

This. Also. Ignore is a magical thing too. Too bad people ignore it across many platforms.

So... TL;DR people in chat made you butthurt so you came to the forums to complain about it, while trying to add legitimacy to your argument by claiming that you reported a bunch of people and clogged up the support ticket list for next to no reason which makes all the support tickets take longer to get to, as well as harping on the dead horse that is dethreaters?

Maybe, just maybe, instead -- you could actually be an adult (which you should be anyway, playing APB) and not let someone saying something on the internet hurt your precious feefees, just /ignoring them and being the bigger person while Matt Scott and the support team fix the problems that they already know are there, but they're taking forever to get to because they have to waste time dealing with a veritable million support cases from people like you?

Your comment smacks of the a child's propensity to complain constantly and be impatient, and yet you act like YOU'RE the one who's the adult here. Sorry, but APB doesn't need to be a "safe space" and when you're an adult, you shouldn't expect any "safe spaces". Not even your home, in the age of the internet.

They know their problems -- it's their company. They listen to the community -- that's why they've been so much more open than G1 ever was. They're people too, trying to save a dying game with all their might, who don't need even more of a hit to their morale. I have no idea why they bought this game when so much of its vocal and forum-going player base is willing to smack them down and be such negative d-bags to the people trying to make it so that you can still play a game that you probably like. Rome wasn't built in a day, and it took a much larger team a much longer time to turn the shit that was Final Fantasy 14 into FF14: A Realm Reborn which is actually good -- they're no doubt trying their best, so stop bitching for now, when they've already showed willingness to try and improve the game (even if, with no experience in fps/tps games, they still need to learn about balancing and the like).

They'll get to your tickets just like everyone else's, though whether they're acted on is entirely down to how ridiculous or not you're being. Besides that, they need proof of anything before they can take action against someone's account, not just your word. By your attitude, I'd guess it's mostly just complaints about nothingness though.

let me rewrite my last one

"toxicity" for the most part is a bs buzz word, most people throw it around because they get offended extremely easy.

half the things i see people bragging about reporting, are people trying to get offended over something that nobody its directed towards is offended over, generic SJW crap, as mean as this sounds.

harassment and things of that nature should always be dealt with quickly, and it's a shame how many people left the game over it not being dealt with, but thats not entirely the same issue.

a lot of the posters in here can resolve their issues with "toxicity" with the use of the ignore feature.

I remember MattScott said in one of the threads that they are going to go on to the old G1 point of reference:

  1. Anything above the waist, a-ok 👌
  2. Below the waist is not ok

You have all these rules and codes of conduct, yet you prove on a daily basis that you have absolutely no intention of actually enforcing any of it.Yes they do, it's pretty much every day on the forums enforcing the rules. The rules you see at the top of this page, under "FORUM RULES" apply to the forums. And those are enforced. (Cursing really hasn't been, sadly) Reporting stuff to support is useless, as report tickets are universally ignored. Where are they ignored? MattScott, and support are replying to tickets, closing tickets, and presenting statistics of said tickets each and every week on Fridays. There's horrifically rampant verbal abuse of others, explicit sexual/pornographic messages in public chat, Are we talking about the game now? blatant dethreating, Has been for a while, but L.O. has presented their stance on it, and their methods to resolve it. outright griefing of both missions and players, This I have not actually seen since I've come back... etc etc etc. What else is this etc?
See below for more on this.

The people doing this crap even taunt taunt? why is taunting bad? about it in public chat channels, they are public, and open for people to see for a reason... because they know they won't suffer any repercussions for their actions. Or because there's nothing wrong with taunting...? We have no GMs Yes we do(wearing the tag doesn't make you a GM, So... if someone's job is to be a GM, and they clearly are stated to be a GM, but because they're not acting how you see fit, they're not a GM? That's like saying a cop isn't a cop, even if they have their badge, police car, uniform, and training, because you think that them pulling you over for speeding, but not everyone else. sorry not sorry), I'm sure you're not considering the mental gymnastics this takes. support ignores tickets, falsehood again. and threads on the forum are unceremoniously censored and locked. Nope, because they state why, and the fact that they're closing it... not to mention that the threads actually break the rules in forums.... which is part of what you were complaining about them not enforcing?!? or do you think you only meant the game?

This touted "district phasing and matchmaking overhaul" isn't going to do a damn thing, and anyone capable of free thought knows this. I love the red herring you place here. You're putting blame of support and management on something completely unrelated. If someone has free thought, then they're able to come to more than one conclusion about a topic based on the same input, correct? It doesn't matter how good your matchmaking is, as all forms of automated systems can (and will) be exploited for player gain. The only solution to this behaviour is to mete out punishment to those who engage in it, period. Are you explicitly talking about dethreating? I'm quite sure that your critiques of a not even implemented, nor completed system fall short, because... well... it's incomplete. Will you complain about a new car's "bad" fuel economy if the statistics on the new engine to go in it aren't even completed, nor detailed?

So, @MattScott. When are you going to start caring about your players? When will you hire a round-the-clock ingame moderation team, that can at a moment's notice respond to cries of distress from victims of toxic behaviour? When will you fast lane terms of service violation report tickets (with an accompanying punishment for those who abuse it, of course)? Are you sure it's because you want your tickets to be more important than others? Your data is more important, eh? Anti-net-neutrality support has joined us....

If you choose to ignore these problems as you have consistently been showing you intend to, the game will die just like before... and it's already started as can be seen by checking readily available public data. If they're already stating fixes, and progress... how are they ignoring them? You fail to open your eyes to the plethora of information and interpret it. Oh, you mean steam player analytics? The thing that not every APB player has, and the fact that school/university/jobs people have? or that most of the players are students, and have gone back for another 9 months of crippling debt learning? I'm quite sure you haven't taken a stats class to explain how statistics can be manipulated to account for only one variable, when in fact quite a many are at play.

incoming censure and account action for daring to speak up on this issue. Quite sure that it's not coming.

Do you play on Jericho? Either you are extremely sensitive and try to get people banned for any little thing you don't agree with or I've turned into something heartless and nothing in the game bothers me... or I happen to never see chat at the time all this toxic behavior is on display and always just miss it.

EDIT: Just remembered that I have every chat in its own tab so unless I remember to go back to district I miss all of it which brings up a point. Why not do what I unintentionally do and ignore the chat? If they whisper you then ignore the individual, but if multiple whisper you and your ignore list is full then it might be you....
