I guess this is old new to the old players, but let me explain what I observed as a new player.
I started playing FE around 3 weeks ago, then decided to buy the commander kit, then in turn to expand to 4 characters, to work around crafting limitations and resulting waiting times (rotating playing my characters eases those issues).
All was fine the first 3 weeks, no noticeable lag most of the time.
At the start of the past week-end, maintenance being early evening in my local time, I went to bed and resumed playing around 10 hours later.
What I found from then was a lag disaster:
- permanent 3 to 4 seconds lag on any harvesting, looting, gathering.
- unresponsive crafting interface, with collecting crafted item or starting new crafting often not responding.
I ended up keeping my characters just gathering materials which I needed, camping at relevant nodes on safe spots, without actively playing since collecting loot from mobs was a major issue (and I never leave anything behind), mobs frequently already respawning while my characters were still trying to loot the dead bodies.
This morning on my first login, crafting was totally unresponsive (I could not collect anything on any of my characters).
Closing the client and starting it again, I was able to collect some crafted items on some of my characters, with the rest still stuck.
When I tried splitting a stack in inventory, that very simple action took over a minute to be executed.
I saw other players also complaining about sever lag in Global, so this is not an issue on my end.
At which point I closed the client again and will try in a few hours.
So, having followed Global chat over the week-end, where that was a frequent topic, I get it that this it was used to happen a few years ago, and caused a large number of players to leave back then.
The real question is, since the game was acting fine in the first weeks I played, and has a low population compared to what it used to, how come that this is brutally starting again now?
