Hello again!

I'm thinking of an update to the current two stats to determine a skill level, for the sake of it, willpower having some effect on damage, for the sake of it that it's willpower, and;

Melee skill needs STR & COORD, while pistol and rifle needs DEX & PERC, and directly related; power and precision, STR and END, but it needs DEX, and DEX and INT, but no PERC, as well as armor use and dodge could use a 3rd stat, like dex to increase percentages; willpower could become a big deal, with a 4th passive or something.
Forgot to mention; if DEX were to be changed for melee users, it could work like it provides a higher crit chance, rather than having +20% in Precision, +2.5% in skill level, and then the passive for power, as well as the stun, DEX, PERC, END and COORD could have more to do with it, rather than specifically INT, it's as INT is so correlated with tradeskills, so you might as well make a crafter,(high INT) because you're going to need the critical hit chance precision provides, and the armor penetration and +dps that comes with power. I'd think toons are perfect for a build like rifle/melee

Willpower should simply be removed, and stats are based off the total between the stats invested.

If you have two stats that are modifiers of 50% adding a third would reduce their total effectiveness per point as it would be 33.33% on three stats.

The only stats that seem fairly weak at this time are Charisma, Perception, and Willpower.

Charisma is still solid due to having Empathic and Enhancement, at the same time Charisma should still be a stat simply because no other stat would be "fair" to place Empathic into.

Perception, on the other hand, only gives the benefit of helping reach 186 First Aid and if you happen to be going for a Suppression build. Beyond that your only true benefits are almost null due to the heavy investment unless you are originally going to be a crafter. Due to no gain in resources.

Willpower simply is terrible due to it's role of modifying mutations by simply 25%, which means no-matter how to slice it the investment is terrible unless going 3-4 mutation lines of different stat scaling. Even then, it gives zero benefit on it's own. Willpower should simply be removed.

Precision vs Power is also a poor example of a struggle between weapon types.... you don't get 7%+ armor penetration without any investment into power. See weapon skill modifiers and of course that it is likely to have a 5% critical chance at creation.

But you'd really have to mess with builds to understand which is the more efficient of two weapon lines... melee wins in efficiency every single time.

At the same time, if we're talking about melee vs ranged...

  • Melee has access to two aura lines from their main stats.
    • One of these are the strongest overall aura line in-game.
  • Range has access to one aura lines from their main stats.
    • The one aura being Social, which scales at 25% perception. (Which should be 75% perception... or at least 50% while Charisma is dropped down a few pegs.)
  • Melee based builds (str/coord) also effectively increases the following skills/mutations. Not including melee itself.
    • Armor Use and Group Tactics (25% Coord)
    • Dirty Tricks, Dodge, and Escape Artist (50% Coord)
    • Heavy Weapons, and Power (50% Str)
    • Primal (75% Str)
    • Illumination and Telekinesis (75% Coord) - Easily the strongest benefit from Coord.
  • Range based builds (dex/perc) increase the following skills/mutations. Not including pistol/rifle, but is a bonus to beable to easily invest into two weapon lines.
    • Dirty Tricks, Escape Artist, and Precision (50% Dex)
    • Dodge and Heavy Weapons (50% Perc)
    • First Aid and Social (25% Perc)
    • Supression (75% Perc)
    • Sonic (75% Dex)

This isn't to say melee is "better", it just gains far more currently... which isn't bad until you consider PVP but that's going into an entirely different topic.

Fact of the matter is, the current method of scaling for stats (let alone passive gain) isn't to bad. The only inconsistent stats are...

  • Willpower : Worthless and should be scrapped.
    • Which is not unreasonable, it simply cannot be "fixed" and ultimately frustrates new players later thinking it was "ok" to put into.
  • Perception : Should gain both Enhancement and Social as aura lines (AKA 75% Perception scaling)
    • Well that and if they gave proper +Skill modifers to rifle based weapons.... but clearly not as important.
  • Charisma : As long as this stat effects Empathic, it still holds an effective stat investment.
    • Especially if they consider making Staunch Wounds self-only.
