1.3 Live serious stutter when getting shot!

Recommended Posts

HI all. Just installed 1.3

Playing on my laptop

i7 processor

16gig ram

GTX960m

When I get shot the particles really screw up the FPS (down to around 20) and the game becomes unplayable. this never happened before the 1.3 install.

Maybe some extra testing would have been best before making tis live.

Works fine on my 9 year old toaster which is...
i7-3770
16GB DDR3 ram at 1600
GTX 1050ti 4GB
2TB with W10

Getting better performance in 64-bit over 32-bit so might be something on your end or overheating since im on a desktop.

this game has been broken since 2016, don't expect them to ever fix it.

More like late 2012

you seem to be one of the first to encounter this problem

and it might as well be due to some specific hardware

they cant test all hardware (and you could've during the open beta)

sucks though, sorry for you, hoping for a fix 🙂

I have the same issue, but for me started before the 1.30.

I talked with a SPCT and he informed me that those drops are part of APB design and, everyone has this issue but for some players are worse than others.

Since im not good with explanations, i will just quote what the SPCT told me.

Quote

"it's called Garbage Collection and it'll find and look at all objects and dump them out if needed, causing a pause or a frame stutter of 60ms all the way up to several 100s

this is yet to be addressed after 64bit update that just gotten to the live servers

everyone has them and depending on drive used for APB and or system as a whole (cpu/memory speed) it may be worse, or less per system

but its generally there for everyone, just some have it more than others

if you have a SSD, recommend APB on there"

The solution he gave me was to go to APBCompat.ini and edit this values in the first bucket1 - [AppCompatBucket1]

ParticleLODBias=4

TEXCAT_VFX=(Usage=0,MinLODSize=16,MaxLODSize=16,LODBias=4,DisableStreaming=False,FairUsagePriority=10)

TEXCAT_VFX=(Usage=1,MinLODSize=16,MaxLODSize=16,LODBias=4,DisableStreaming=False,FairUsagePriority=10)

SpawnMapDelayTime=0

ParticleMaxWorldSpaceArea=0.1

Then go ingame, re-select the Minimal preset and restart the game.

NOTE: this solution didn't got rid of the drops but imo it has improved a little bit.

Hi there, if anyone has more questions, please reach out to me on Discord instead. You can find me in the Little Orbit discord or by tag: Kyouki#1337

We also learned that Nvidia's (AMD antilag) may cause problems with fps drops and stutter in the game. Double check and see what works for your system best.
