This game is finally dead in a way.

Recommended Posts

enthusiast people left the game. Old OG players who played for years left. People who believed in this game left. The 300-400 people that are left are believers on heavy dose of copium(i was a part of it) and cheaters that have fun with goin blatant because this game has no anti cheat, 0 moderation and priorities.

I am done the amount walling new re rollers/bought accounts with smooth aim is just sky high they are not even hiding it. And no reporting doesn't do shit only reporting griefers are the tickets they look at. You worked on so much stuff in the live version expect for the one that mattered a anti cheat. Bring back EAC client side it did more the BE client and server side combined. Even when EAC is free for developers you guys are so greedy that you still won't touch something that is free.

As a Beta veteran you guys are the same as the old G1 team feeding us promises but never fulfilling them.

I wouldn't say the people who still play APB are necessarily believers (whatever "copium" might stand for), they just log in and play a bit without giving much thought to it, especially if we speak of those casual bronze districts. I doubt anyone comes online expecting anything else from what APB has been for years now. As long as you can join districts, ready up and get some opposition, the game isn't completely dead and I guess that's what the majority cares about. No expectations, no disappointments, they take APB as it is, with all its flaws.

Even when I actually get a couple of missions that aren't against a group of players 10x better than me I want to stop playing because I dont want to push my luck and ruin the rare fun I just had.

What i want is some moderation and a anti cheat that actually works. its not dead i though 500-600 would have rock bottom but we went tot 383 now on average. One day the population will be left with cheaters mostly just closeting against each other like monkeys.

I can't argue that, more of an active and immediate moderation would be welcomed and most appreciated.

its funny, when you go into steam and you look at the "this game is dead threads"  all the people who say it last played APB 2 hours ago 😆

Which is, on the other hand, certainly better than being active just on the forum and stating the same.

hello
i haven't played this game for a long time and since everyone is caught up saying that the people who make "the game is dying" are hypocrites.

I'm here to confirm, that i have seen runescape private servers with more people than the entire of APB, as it is.

No one argues the present continuous tense, but the simple past tense.

I played apb for today and guess what 4/10 had closeting low rank rerolls with obvious walls and smooth aim. Go keep playing the same dead game ape LOL.

I believe the game, in the current state, isn't for anyone. Personally speaking, I couldn't care less going occasionally 1:20 in a match against cheaters or highly efficient premades, as long as I have some kick and giggles here and there, it's fine to me. I perfectly understand people being unable to cope with it and I respect their decision to leave, but I expect them to treat in the same way those who are willing to stay.

At this point might as well shut the game down. The large minority of players you have remaining are the once that are not able to financially contribute to the upkeep of the game, who would rather spend 15 euros on cheats then help the game out.  You have the people that are speed hacking who are still not banned. If you guys are struggling to ban people who are blatantly speed hacking, what confidence, would it give us that you can actually deal with people who are closeting. NA literally has no population, the EU population is slowly dying and is only being kept alive from the Russian/Ukrainian population who are playing on 100ms +. I would be really surprised if the game is making any money at all.

Since early beginning it was obvious that LO is just rebadged G1 and/or even worse. Bottle royale no one asked for, selling APB brand to some shady chinese company, messing with mods and weapons in a way no one asked for, questionable engine upgrade which looks like band-aid ported 2015 console build.
Yes, game is truly dead and full of cheaters. Cheaters were a less of problem with 2000 people playing cause you could switch district or wait few minutes and avoid them but now it is impossible.

Even if the game had good anti cheat it's not like everyone is going to play again dude.

Going to rant some stuff again 🙂

Game Lacks content, there's no drive for players to keep playing again, they are still working on the engine update, they ain't going to do sh*t on the live version.

Lets go back in history Real time worlds went bankrupt which has all the original developers, game was acquired by Gamerfirst and then Little orbit is now in charge of the game's development. Game has been short on developers for so long and still hiring currently.

For a game that ran 10 years without any major updates and all the BS that comes along, In my opinion is pretty dam impressive, compare to new games these days that die quickly that had a good run for at least a year or 3 and population dies out.

It's just Matt Scott and his/her new specialist, going to work on the engine update, even though there so much being said on the road map 2021 after the engine update launches, is there actual developers continuing to work on after the engine update? or is LO still currently hiring? because I don't think it's ready for marketing, yea it offers better performance for older and new hardware + graphics but doesn't really do much when the game is still capped at 144fps in the year 2021. At least have a new UI HUD which is much cleaner than the current hud and framerate should be uncapped above 144 to support those who have 240hz-280hz, 360hz monitors.

When they say the engine update will make the game easier to modified and add new things, It's unclear what potential or limitation they can do or add in the game? I have so many questions like are they able to expand the current map by adding new sections or change buildings and have the tools to create new maps for starters like fight club maps.

Clothing will they able to have more freedom of new clothing choices to create that they cannot do on the old engine due to limitations? because the previous clothing for example pack of Revelation, Renaissance Man and Leather and Lace etc were terrible designed or the idea behind it, I don't know who's idea it was but man they lost sight of the APB theme, it's all about customization, letting your character stand out with appealing style and fashion. It's like the game makes the worst clothing that no one wants to buy, guess the korean MMO games do it better they generate billions, because they know what the players wants and see, take some inspiration on the clothing trend or street fashion.

F*K it's like they lack of creativity and ideas that make the game great and if the new engine has limitations on what it was mention above then there's no hope for the game's future. Without any competent developers the game will be doom.

I knew that it would end up like this the moment they announced that we were forced to go back to BE. The short period that we had EAC's client side (not even the server side) was the most playable APB's been in many years. EAC was the one thing that could've at least kept the game going. I saw a certain private stream on a random discord server of a player ragehacking in Baylan on the same day as BE's return. This is the main reason why I've barely streamed the game for the past year. I can't even turn on my stream without every closet lowlife coming out of the woodwork to streamsnipe me (not that they need to try too hard, considering that there is only one single silver district to play on nowadays).

The Engine Upgrade will not solve the cheater problem on its own either. Without serious anti-cheat measures, the fate of the game will not change and this has always been the case. It originally lost most of it's leftover players during the FFbans era (2014-2018) with G1's shenanigans and them somehow deciding that its a great idea to make every single ban public, in a game with such a small community where half of it are immature egofiends of some form. We were already down to ~600 average players on EU in May 2018 when LO picked up the pieces. Most of the EU silver district players here should recall what absolute hell it was to play APB towards the end where you'd face multiple full premades of cheaters back to back non-stop. FF was useless and G1 had given up on investigating cheaters completely. Bans seemed very random, most of them were manual (as we now know for a fact), and somehow certain players were able to ragehack for months or even years on end in some cases, somehow the anti-cheat completely ignoring their perfect aim and accuracy but then also re-banning certain people who were either not cheating or wouldn't go as hard even if they were, which still makes no sense however you try to stretch things.

A lot of players seemed to think that APB was dying due to lack of content but that is only somewhat true. Most players that still played have largely enjoyed APB for its combat mechanics and the more competitive players would come back for more for years on end, very few of us still today. Bottom line is that the biggest issue has always been cheaters and they have actively been killing the game for half a decade now. You can only hold onto players' dedication to keep the game alive for this long, until there is nothing but aimbots fighting aimbots and you having to deal with it to be able to play APB in any capacity. Anyone would leave at that point.

And don't even get me started on weapon balancing which has been completely butchered by LO and whoever thought that making the game unplayable as a solo player was a good idea. You know, at least when we had cheaters during FF we also had decent weapons and cars to outplay cheaters with if we were skilled enough. Now we got that taken away but the cheaters are still here. I used to think that soloing was bad before but, boy, was I in for a treat. APB has become progressively worse and worse for the solo player and catering entirely to premades 100% and that is all due to improper balancing and lack of vision on LO's side. Imagine that for one or another reason you don't have people to play with or maybe you only have one friend who also still plays APB and all you get are full premades of four who play APB all day long, half of them probably having at least one closet cheater in their group at all times. A lot of them running at least one OSMAW/DMR-AV and concs which completely obliterate cars now after the nerf (because somehow they decided to nerf cars but not all anti-vehicle weaponry.) Who would want to even try when you already know that you've lost from the very first second of the mission?

Well it strugles to have one district full even in peak times.... it is kinda dead indeed.

I know some people who would return if they restore FF and set it as it was. Ban back all people who were FF banned. There were no much mistakes in banes as LO claimed and we all know that. Its was damn good tool. Made a lot of cheaters cry at least. Loved to watch max rank shi***les crying on forums how it was mistake that they got banned. After hire in game mod that can react fast to reports. I guarantee it will bring more people then engine upgrade.

Oh, so removing the best unique features, fun and easy to play ,didnT worked?

Not surprised.

APB in golden age: (2012):

  1. P5N5. Unique, in open world games.
  2. Ninjaripper allowed for export character.
  3. Best artist of game community around.
  4. OutOfBound funny more than GTA XVIII.
  5. Forum chaos and fun allowed.(the 3rd type action district, but with post and gif).
  6. No strange people with strange chat with strange script symbols around mission district.
  7. FFbans , best anticheat, best web page.
  8. Horses.  ok, maybe this not.
  9. a bad teamkick system. so people doesnT grief.

Now:

  1. still promise about Engine update and no new content, neither possible ideas/items ready to go.
  2. blatants, and neither nice.
  3. dethreaters are the 100% of goldies cause districts are EMPTY (in NA)
  4. still segregations, but with the bonus of match a goldies ,legit, but dethreating (in team, rage, as oppo, boring ranging shot)
  5. other 3284098 toxic problematic long to list (1 for every "balance " of any stat of any weapon)
  6. No old theme intro login. dan,dan dadan , dannn dannn dadannnnn...
  7. worst teamkick system of every game i played since 1986..
  8. still no Horses 😞

a genuine question, if you think orbit flat out lied to the entire community and willingly unbanned every cheater then why do you continue to play the game that they own and operate?

The main reason the game dien is on the company s runnin it.You cant blame the players who keepin alive this game so many years despite the poor performance, hackers, lack of content etc.The game had potential(and still have)and can have at least couple of thousands of players once again but the shti companys runnin it just hold this game like a hostage..

But it is a fact. Even if we skip unbans of some subtle closets, a LOT of long time known RAGE cheaters got their accounts unbanned.

Matt Scott made some story out of his head about getting FF banned without cheats but did not provide any proof like stream or record what he did to trigger ban.
I mean if it is such a deadly bug that shreds legit people there is no reason to censor it and releasing to public will force anticheat devs to fix it which is a win-win situation. Screenshot made from a post in some third party discord group? I will take it as 100% proof, hahahaha.

its not a fact that orbit lied to the community because there's no evidence to prove that they did so, you want to minimize mattscott's claim about being falsely banned by fairfight by demanding "proof" but that goes both ways

"long time known cheaters" to you and i perhaps, altho i'm willing to bet money that we've both thought someone was cheating who was completely legit, but how would orbit possibly have such indepth knowledge of the community?

there were more factors than just mattscott's personal test of fairfight; it hadn't been updated/maintained for at least a year, many bans weren't documented correctly enough to even know why they were in place, and lots of manual bans for other offenses were pushed through fairfight

all of this info obviously comes from little orbit so certainly it could all be an elaborate lie, but in that case what's the point of campaigning for fairfight back - if orbit was willing to lie about it the first time, why wouldn't they continue to lie this time?

also i think its pretty likely that the "bug" was fairfight not functioning correctly with the broken mess that is apb, something we saw play out again with eac, and just because orbit didn't publicly release a step by step problem with fairfight doesn't mean the issue wasn't reported to its parent company

i think there's a large difference between disliking the devs and believing that they're actively lying to you

People who still somehow keep saying that the FairFight era was good have no idea what they're talking about. Its easy to be a silver who'd never even be suspected of cheating (let alone banned) and watch better players get banned publically. You get to feel better about yourself and you live in your own little bubble where you think who everyone who kills you twice in a row is cheating while you can't even hold gold yourself. Granted, there were justified bans but when they would just ban people at random they're bound to eventually catch some real cheaters by accident. But then there were actual blatant ragebots playing for months or years under FF on the same account.

Me and many others have known that FairFight didn't work and FF bans were not to be believed for years before LO came around to prove it, due to the fact that most of those bans were manual. A lot of them were repeated bans on players they "suspected" but had no real evidence on (myself included). Its just that you don't truly see it until you get targeted by it yourself. Me and many others were targeted but most people didn't believe us. Now you have the new owners of the game telling you that we were right all along but the little bubble is still too comfortable to leave for a lot of people. Also, you need to realise that just because you don't see the bans publically doesn't mean that they don't happen. Just because you don't see something with your own eyes doesn't mean that its not real. Now you just simply don't have the comfort of feeling good about yourself when you see X player banned who beat you 2 days ago.

Lastly, I want to address the whole controversy about people getting their FFbanned accounts back. There is no reason to be mad about that because APB is a F2P game and if people wanted to keep cheating after LO (and a lot of them definitely have come around to cheating again eventually) they can keep making new accounts or buying accounts with R255s on them full of Armas items and we will all still have to deal with those players. Which account they play on or what name they have really makes no difference.

Perhaps this is slightly off topic, but it's certainly an interesting anecdote and something people making these kinds of threads should consider.

There is this rather cute, young couple which started to play this game recently, yes they are bronze, totally clueless but really sociable and expressive, fun people to have around with a refreshing attitude. They plan to invest some money but they aired their concerns in the chat, saying they were on the APB forum and even on the main page they have seen a couple of threads saying the game is dead.

Of course, they have got a full spectrum of opposite opinions in the chat, but I believe the district chat consensus settled that as long as you can have someone to play with, opposition to play against, and some laughs in between, the game is not really dead.
