Premium Extension - October

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Whether you are in an area that is experiencing a second wave or one of the lucky few that have things under control, covid continues to be a part of our current landscape. We stand by our commitment to our community and to making these uncertain times a little more enjoyable. As such, we are continuing free premium for everyone through the end of October. For everyone out there, please take all the necessary precautions for yourselves, your loved ones, and your communities. Stay safe, practice social distancing, and use a mask in crowded areas or if you need to venture out doors.

We continue to get support tickets regarding this free grant. Before you submit a ticket, please read the following:

  • For those of you who didn't have premium already - yay! You should be all set.
  • For those of you who had premium before, there is currently a display issue where it looks like your premium is counting down. Please don't worry! We are aware of the issue, and there is no need for you to submit a support ticket. Your premium will be automatically extended for the length of the free premium period. You are not losing any time or missing out.
  • If you have a reoccurring subscription and find yourself needing to tighten your belts as we remain on lock down, we understand. You will need to end your subscription manually. As above, you will get the automatic premium extension equal to the duration of this event and you will not lose any of your paid time.

We hope this answers any questions you might have.

Bee safe!

so we going to get this til apb 2.1?

Considering COVID will continue strong in the US until a vaccine is produced (if not beyond that, because the absolute state of crippling brain damage that are anti-vaxxers are a thing that exists), most likely. That is of course assuming Little Orbit takes Jericho into consideration when making business decisions, anyways. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't, considering the server's dead now (and the US servers were never really that populated to begin with, the game's obviously more popular in EU).

There would be alot more ppl playing on both servers if LO took care of some of the problems that ppl are leaving over now and not after the engine upgrade. Such as matchmaking, bugs and the botter problem (closets count). They could upgrade the engine to the latest version if they wanted but so long as these problems are driving ppl away its only polishing a turd and at the end of the day no matter how polished a turd is a turd.

the engine upgrade is necessary for any meaningful matchmaking and bug fixes, attempting do so before the engine upgrade is like spraying febreeze on a turd and calling it a flower

Some things yes its needed but others they can work on now such as dethreating, hackers, and the toxicity thats still around in whats left of the playerbase.

MattScott has already openly stated that they have no intention of dealing with dethreating until after the phased matchmaking and threat system reworks (which are after the engine upgrade).

I've had back and forth discussions with him directly in DMs about the toxicity, and he doesn't see these people's toxic behavior as a problem.

Well thats 2 mistakes on Matts part cause if the playerbase sees it as a problem they will leave (which they have done and continue to do). Sept was an all time low in the game with only 303.5 players average and 550 peak per steam charts.

For the first part, it is very much so the correct decision when looking at the big picture. The game is dead, the population numbers (such as they are) fluctuating is meaningless. The only ones still here are ones that can look past the issue and just derive what enjoyment they can from the core gameplay. Leaving the issue alone won't deter these people, which is why the current population is identical to what it was before Little Orbit entered the picture in the first place (which is something you people like to ignore when you bring up population decline).

Little Orbit is a tiny studio working on a relatively massive project. They most certainly are being held back by limited resources, and the best thing to do in such a situation is to focus your resources where they're going to be most effective. Since they don't have to worry about player retention (there is none, because new players are rare and existing players won't leave), working on stuff like matchmaking and threat is literally meaningless so long as the game runs like complete patootie even on ideal hardware. Also the part where they've already stated phasing can't happen until after the engine upgrade because the current engine literally doesn't have the functionality required for it, and phasing is mandatory for the intended matchmaking and threat changes to even function correctly.

As for the second part, yea it's shitty. Nothing to be done for it though, MattScott apparently wants to retain this game's marketing target of salty edgelords as the core audience and community.

When LO took over we had an average pop of 542.4, peak of 1127. Thats the same as 303.5 and peak of 550? Id call that worse not the same. Reality check our peak pop is what our average used to be.

Oh look, you're ignoring the thing again. Why am I not surprised?
