can i get a definitive little orbit answer on these questions

Recommended Posts

a header beginning of if youre not a staff member or vsb i might not care what your negative opinion is, post it if you want though because i am curious to see what you think of all this. i'd like to think gathering data as a community is a good concept to start on

if possible, i'd love to get a yes/no on this so I and others can have the information on what we are actually allowed to push towards with client configuration

questions:

  • crosshair overlays (such as monitor, overwolf, anything else NOT a shader edit) considered against the rules? fairly certain this was marked as "grey area" from the previous iteration of gamersfirst(?)
  • basic text file edits on the translation/localization files such as:
    • killfeed modifications, this can help a lot with color blindness - Example
    • mission title modifications, this doesn't really do much other than give you information which is readily accessible anyway - Example
    • config file modifications (i can assume this is allowed since advanced launcher)
  • content file modifications up to and limited to upk mods that dont inherently give an unfair advantage:
    • to disable muzzle flash from gunfire and car explosions - this tends to mess with some epileptic friends of mine who play the game
    • to disable ambient sounds - such as the glitchy sounds that can/will literally pop speakers in headsets in the asylum fight club

a lot of this boils down to working around the already lacking user interface customization in the game, and i'd love to see this incorporated into the game in first party but right now it's just a handful of us working around the very lacking accessibility options

Why are you calling out VSB in particular?

i think the new management is unsure about how to answer these questions. they can say "these are ok" then players can get banned by BE. better wait until they're more comfortable with BE's behavior towards 3rd party tools and client/file modifications.

if you read the eula you'll understand

i did read the eula

and this doesn't explain what either answer means

"yes this is allowed?"

"no this isn't allowed?"

because your very first point is

meaning that 'yes' would imply it's not allowed and 'no' would imply that it is

we got a vague, non-definite answer for varying unspecified crosshairs

an ounce of confusion comes from the EULA, which states:

Quote

3.1.3 modify the Game or any files forming part of the Game in any way not expressly authorized by Reloaded;

and im really wanting to know, can I get express authorization from any staff member on any of the outlined modifications in the OP
