New Anti DDoS is live

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

As of 8am we went live with the new Anti DDoS solution.

The team has been monitoring all afternoon, and it’s looking good so far. Seeing some nice low latency just in time for the holiday weekend.

For those US-based Jericho players who have been frustrated, I encourage you to give it a shot.

This solution uses a combination of systems, many of which had to be installed at the edge network in front of our gateway and servers. It was originally scheduled to go live in April, but our provider kept delaying due to conflicts with some of the other tenants using the same network.

Hopefully this is a good step in the right direction.

Thanks,

Matt

there were some hiccups around 4pm est iirc, later on i was told it resolved itself but at the time it was noticeably affecting play

edit: hopefully this actually mitigates the ddosing, the performance for the last few months has been atrocious

I don't know what's more saddening... the state of the game or the state of the person still DDOS'ing the game...

anyway, good to hear you guys took care of that... let's hope it'll work properly.

Do NEVER tell any bit of information about it, or how it behave or if the badoo-doop-dowe-do of the system needs to be fixed or changed or whatever. This piece of information must never be known by anybody in this toxic community. We have evil minions laying around the shadows of this community in hunger for this kind of information, to get back to attacking the game sadly.

I highly hope it succeeds! Cheers!

While I already see concerning performance problems not even a day after implementation (about an hour ago I was having packet loss as the server started kicking people) this is still good news, thanks Uncle Matt

Fingers crossed that it does the job!

Regular baseline latency across the Pacific makes life hard enough, without a DDoSer stacking more on.

All I can do is give it a go and see what happens tonight.

Thanks from Australia, Matt!

Thank you. Hoping the best! The few times that Jericho has a district start populating it's usually ruined by the lag that inevitably comes.

Maybe one day they can be caught as more efforts are being made to punish those who do this (though by huge companies compared to LO):

Quote

A two-year sentence has been handed to an individual who had a role in a series of DDoS attacks against Daybreak Games, then known as Sony Online Entertainment.

Austin Thompson has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in DDoS attacks which occurred in 2013 and 2014.

Thompson plead guilty to the charges in November 2018 and was sentenced yesterday. As part of his sentence, he is to pay $95,000 in restitution.

The 2013 attacks were made by Thompson’s group “DerpTrolling” and affected online services other than Sony Online Entertainment, now known as Daybreak Games.

These services included Battle.net, Dota 2, and League of Legends.

DerpTrolling wasn’t the only hacking group to target Daybreak Games. Lizard Squad also attacked online services for Planetside 2, H1Z1, Everquest, and other Daybreak titles.

The year prior, it even tweeted a bomb threat to American Airlines, grounding a plane on which then company president John Smedley was due to travel.

Thanks, Polygon.

-snip-

That 5$ price probably has tax included in the price leading to the amount of g1c you receive being less.

The base g1c amount is 5$=500 g1c but that is without tax

if the fuckin twat DDoSing LO got caught I hope he would never get out. Its been crippling the game for many years. I cant imagine how much money this is costing LO and did G1.

There people need to get a life - what point are they trying to prove? OMG I dnt like this game - lets ruin it for everyone else because some one bigger than me beet me up at school a long time ago.. FUCKIN FANNIES! Faceless molly coddled mummys boy living in your parents basement with a shit load of sticky, well used porn mags.

Whatever you did to get this implemented has caused the servers to get loopy again. Hitreg is spotty and vehicles are floaty, not conditions even remotely fun to play under.

Oh man I knew it was going smooth and really good today, me and my friend did missions earlier today and it was so amazing playing without lagging so hard. I hope it lasts!

the new ddos measures didnt change much, i shoot players and they take no damage. there is still random teleporting, although some hackers are taking advantage of this and using teleport hacks.
