  1. Because of my bad computer I use GeforceNOW to play the games I own at higher quality and FPS than my computer could on it own. For those that don't know what GFN is, It's a cloud gaming service by Nvidia that grants you the ability to play a wide range of games across multiple platforms such as Steam and games that are in its own library using Nvidia GeForce GPU's. The problem is... APB Reloaded isn't compatible with GFN because it requires administrator rights in order to launch the game for whatever reason(Which GeForce doesn't allow us to have). I feel that this requirement should be removed because it isn't really stopping anyone but the people using Cloud services to play APB. I really enjoy APB Reloaded so if it were to become compatible with GFN It'd be the best thing ever. ^_^
  2. Nvidia user performance settings & System tricks Less spech, let's start • Step 0 • Windows Right click on your desktop and click personalize, then select and apply the windows classic theme like this: • Step 1 • Nvidia Control Panel Click START next CONTROL PANEL next HARDWARE AND SOUND next Nvidia Control Panel then click on 3D Settings like this: Click ADJUST IMAGE SETTINGS WITH REVIEW and then select USE MY PREFERENCE EMPHASIZIG and spin the bar to left on PERFORMANCE when done click APPLY • Step 2 • Nvidia 3D Settings Click on MANAGE 3D SETTINGS and copy the exact content of the screenshots(2) below, and click APPLY when done • Step 3 • Nvidia Physx Click on SET PHYSX CONFIGURATION and select your GRAPHIC CARD when done click APPLY like this screenshot: • Step 4 • Windows Performance trick Click on ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS screenshot below: Click on ADVANCED and click on SETTINGS ... screenshot below: Now click on ADJUST FOR BEST PERFORMANCE and APPLY, for close the windows just press OK screenshot below: • Step 5 • APB:R Vanilla configuration Go in APB:R Options, turn the graphic in minimal, and leave the tick from smooth frame rate and vsync, then go in the tab advanced and leave the two tick and apply // Updates for advanced users (recommended): You can disable / enable HPET for the best performance, you can search for this on google and read carefully ! Disable all the power saving option in the bios and windows Disable in-built audio system from motherboard, these usually uses windows high-definition / realtek drivers and causes alot of troubles like audio stuttering, better using a cheap external sound card at this point Disable contents indexing of the hard drive where windows is located Re-locate the page-filing trough another hard-disk, out from the hard-disk where your APB is placed Re-locate the Asset-cache folder (the one inside APB folder), you have to link that in another hard-disk there should be a Karyl tutorial // Updates for everyone that uses nvidia: Texture filtering trilinear optimization should be ON (screenshot mistake) thanks Dive for let me notice that A lot of thanks to 'Steamcloud' for posting this. I think this thread helped a bunch of people getting into the basics of tweaking mechanics. xxx
  3. APB with significantly better graphics without any engine upgrade? Maybe some of you already heard or even played some all time classics like Portal or Half Life lately which have been remastered with Nvidia's technology RTX Remix. It's a technology which supports games starting with DirectX 8 and newer. This should include APB since it's running on DirectX 9 as far as I've read it in the system requirements. I understand that some of us might not enable it in matches because of it's downsides regarding frame rate. But speaking as a content creator, this might give us a huge quality boost for our content resulting in making the game more appealing to a wider audience. At least until we get a real native overhaul regarding lighting, textures and so on. @MattScott Any thoughts about the practicality of this solution?
  4. Since LittleOrbit never gave an official statement on these crashes, here's an explanation of what is the current issue: There is currently a quite significant crash issue that occurs on ALL Nvidia Turing and Ampere graphics cards which includes cards from the GTX 16xx Series as well as ALL RTX Series cards: Here are the 3 common issues that all have been experienced users of those graphics cards, note that those crashes tend to happen on respawn/ right after a respawn: 1 :Game freezes when you respawn but you can still hear everything happening. You can minimise / maximise the game to fix the issue, or do control + alt + del and click back on the game to unfreeze it. 2: Game completely stops working on respawn and you get "APB Is not responding" OR The crash reporter pops up and shows you "Device lost" / "Result failed" in the log You can mitigate this issue by playing the game in the "Low" or "Minimal" preset, but that doesn't work for everyone, you will still crash at some point. 3: Game stops abruptly and you get an "Out of Memory" error. This bug is more of an overall APB problem, but is more prone to happen on RTX cards, you can mitigate this issue by playing the game in the "Low" or "Minimal" preset, it might either fix completely or only delay the crash. All those issues are common to all Nvidia Turing and Ampere cards, and are caused by their new driver architecture being based around 64 bit instructions. There is no known way to fix these issues other than upgrading the game engine to natively support 64 bit instructions. (Note that this bug is already fixed in the engine upgrade client that has been beta tested by players) Whatever kind of "FIX" you find will most of the time work only for you and no one else. A quick note that i can give, is that older drivers might be able to completely fix all those problems, i sadly do not know which which driver version, keep in mind that the RTX 3000 Series specifically, can't use older drivers due to being unsupported by said older drivers. The occurrence of this bug varies heavily between users, some never had the issues while some crash almost every time on respawn, it is absolutely random and pretty much impossible to track down due to pc setups always being slightly different. The only real fix that is known to work for everyone is... well, the engine upgrade, pretty much we can't do anything other than wait for Little Orbit to release the upgraded APB for us to play without issues.
