  1. Unprofessional release of a product. Broken LOD, engine audio that does not fit (moirai really?), lack of wheel options and no police lights for a car that resembles a dodge charger and is widely used by police departments. At least the thing drives, but it doesn't make the company look great if this is the best they can deliver after long periods of no content. I still enjoy it for what it is and support new content, but it's about time it gets fixed. It shouldn't have to take this long.

Seems like you did not set the launch options in the game's properties correctly.

    I did.

    Merged.

Alternatively you can run this terminal command which will fix the login screen and allow you to launch the game without any options:

    echo -e '[LoginSettings]\nbUseSteamLogin=False' >> "$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/APB Reloaded/APBGame/Config/APBMachineOptions.ini"

You only have to run it once and it will work until you reinstall the game.

This alternative terminal command fixed the crash.

    Unknown exception!

    Script call stack:
        Function APBUserInterface.cLoginIntegrationUIController|WidgetInitialized
        Function APBUserInterface.cLoginIntegrationDialogUIController|WidgetInitialized
    History:
    00:06:52 - Log: Log file closed, 01/05/23 02:06:52

When it gets to the login screen I get this crash everytime.

Steam with Proton GE 55, tried 49 as well, same crash.

    Specs:

    OS: (Nobara) Fedora 37

    CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

    GPU: RTX 3060 Ti

    RAM: 32GB DDR4

    DRIVE: Crucial P1 NVMe 1TB

That's an issue with APBLauncher on Linux, the solution is usually to set separate entries for the launcher and game until a root cause for this is found.

If you want to modify APB on Steam so that it starts the game directly bypassing the launcher (and the bug I mentioned), type this into your launch options on "Properties":

    $(echo %command% | sed -r "s/proton waitforexitandrun .*/proton waitforexitandrun/") "$STEAM_COMPAT_INSTALL_PATH/Binaries/APB.exe" -nosteam

I still recommend using Bottles or SteamTinkerLaunch instead, since Steam integration is still broken (hence -nosteam above).

This now launches the game but when I join a district it prompts back to menu screen with "BattleEye failed to start" etc.

System mail issue happens too, will have to see if there are some more missing dependencies that could be causing it. Weirdly enough the title shows up correctly for a second then changes to "system mail", but the items can be redeemed correctly. It's just difficult to know which mail is which.

I'm glad it worked fine on Nvidia as well. How was your performance in terms of FPS?

Now that 1.3 is Live, are you able to play it through steam on linux? I can't get it to work right now, launcher opens, updates and installs directx etc but when I click play it just closes and steam reports it closed as well.

Surprisingly, it took very little effort to make this new build run on Linux via Proton/Wine, unlike Live which crashes immediately at the district select screen at best. That alone is a huge step up in my opinion and a great incentive to start playing again, because I have pretty much ditched Windows completely other than a tiny partition to run a few well known benchmarks and overclocking tools.

This also means the Steam Deck and devices with a similar software stack should be able to run the game now, though it is obvious this game is best enjoyed with a keyboard and mouse.

The (simplified) steps I took for this were to install the game using Bottles and the default Soda runner, install the dotnet48 dependency in the same prefix, then have a separate entry for APB.exe and APBLauncher as the launcher can not start the game on Linux yet. Once 1.30 is out on Steam the process will be much more simple.

Performance is comparable to Frosi's results on Windows and there are no issues with the anticheat, both BE and EAC support Linux by now.

Here is a frametime plot complete with test specs and settings:

I saw this being requested by someone else in the AMA so I hope others (especially with Nvidia hardware) give this a try and check if it works on their setup as well.

I installed it today on Nobara, rtx 3060 ti. Ran the setup through lutris, installed no issues and was able to run APB.exe with Wine GE 36. Didn't have to install anything else, it worked, played smoothly for an hour. Didn't see any issues other than all mail showing as "system mail"

I was under the assumption that the developer needed to contact either BattleEye or EAC to enable linux support, so I wasn't sure whether LO already did that. Good to hear it is working, I'm on the same distro as you as well.

  8. All guns from the juggernaut bundle are so mediocre now, I bought it because they used to be decent, now all of them are not worth using at all. The frenzy has a very annoying recoil pattern, manic has a ridiculous bad ttk for what it is.

We will be freezing the 2.2 code base and switching back to development on 1.20

Should have focused on that from the moment you acquired APB. Why bother even porting something over that's so broken in the first place. Efforts should have been made on fixing and upgrading the current game instead.

hello good to all and all, have you tried, with you sell your weapons, I know it sounds somewhat illogical, but this game is, same as mailbox or by exchange you can not, but in the market you can not put them either? I buy them again with the character of the other account with which you want to have it?

Our legendaries are marked as not tradable, unfortunately this includes not being able to send it to other characters, support told me this wasn't "legally possible".

Just uninstall vivox in every game that uses it. It is complete trash.

Vivox is definitely not complete trash, the outdated version in APB was complete trash. Vivox integration in newest games is pretty good.

  12. I think everyone should only be able to play at the in-game graphical options, and LO should expand upon those settings. Disabling explosion effects through the configs already gives an unfair advantage IMO.

Their CEO or whoever is listed as "An avid player and a long time player of APB Reloaded" is a total lie.

Either we are being lied to or there is something fishy going on  or this is an attempt by LO to cut further losses before dipping from this game :P.

It's worse than I thought, a company that has existed for 2 months buys the APB IP. There is nothing known about the company and little orbit is willing to sell the IP to some shady company for some quick funds.
