  1. Controversial but I think the matchmaking system is, by itself, actually good (as it is now). The problem that most people don't recognize is that it's a POPULATION issue not a system issue.

Example: A full district is 80 people (40 E / 40 C), when you queue up you have to get lucky because at least half of those 40 (enemy faction) people are going to be already in a mission. So that leaves us with 20 potential people to get matched against. Out of those 20 people several are going to be in groups with their friends, so the system is trying to 'puzzle piece' all these people together as best it can.

There are only 2 real solutions to fix this:

    (A) Increase the district pops -- This used to be 100 players (50 E / 50 C) but over the years has been reduced to the 80 we see today. 100 would help but only marginally and anything beyond that range would make for a bit of crowding given the district size (map).

    (B) Come up with some sort of 'phasing' system like World of Warcraft has. No more segregated districts, just plain 'ol Financial / Waterfront. Anyone can be in any district instance but the queue will match people across all instances and phase them into a specific one seamlessly.

  2. In case you didn't know: APB has some rather large log files.

Here is my logs folder from one play session (I clear mine often):

    3AfHcrb.png

After a few hours of gameplay I have collected ~565 MB of log files. You can imagine how large they must get for people who don't clear their logs!

To delete your logs, navigate to the APB Reloaded/APBGame/Logs folder and simply delete the contents.

HOWEVER, if you want to permanently save space while reducing writes to the same disk your game is on, I recommend making a symlink.

To do this all you need to do is open a command prompt (dont forget to do run it as admin) and enter in the following command:

mklink /J "Desired Directory" "Source Directory"

    For example, here is mine: mklink /J "F:\LOGS\APB" "C:\GAMES\Steam Library\SteamApps\common\APB Reloaded\APBGame\Logs"

Only issue I see with that is that if meta changing speed is a few kms, nulander is topping out at like 75 kms and vegas is at 83... So if we go slamming it up by 20, you're gonna be ripping through the city at the speed of sound.

Why not take my idea which is giving 'bonuses' to different vehicles?

EXAMPLE: Han Veo = Increased range of the radar tower, increased benefit from fireproofing

Or make steel plating give resistance to explosives but ONLY on weaker vehicles (aka vehicles that cant already take 1 rocket). Give a % penalty to using steel plating on carry vehicles (namely the Pioneer and Espacio) but give them a bonus to car spawner -- HOLD ON, hear me out --> Pio/Espacio car spawner bonus to reduce the radius of denial. I think that would be fair with the steel plating penalty.

There's all sorts of things LO could do with a system like this VS adding new mods. I feel this 'bonus/penalty' idea would be a great way to shake up the meta.

  4. Anecdotal but I've been playing a heap since LO took over. I have ~6k hours game play since 2011 and have been gold for 95% of that time. Since the implementation of BattlEye I've noticed that all the god-like golds are now beatable instead of this massive wall of "get fucked" any time I fought them in the past.

I've encountered maybe 2-3 cheaters AT MOST since BE (weren't many of them post-LO either). Also I should mention I play on Jericho. I'm pretty happy, especially now that server performance isn't all over the place.

This is a really good list about issues that have been neglected for too long, together with some QoL-suggestions, and then some important overhauls.

Problem is that the list is very unstructured, and incomprehensible for those who haven't been around for long enough to know what certain things mean.

A lot of these would even warrant a topic of their own, so it's hard to comment on this thread as a whole.

I'd suggest categorizing the issues and add more detailed explanation and examples under each.

Know that if all of this would be implemented correctly, it would vastly improve the game.

I just combed through the list and threw them into three different categories with some better wording/clarification on some things. This still isn't a very casual-friendly list (description-wise). I'll try and work on that as things come to mind. Thanks for the reply!

If I remember correctly the 32 bit one always causes problems with battleye but the 64 version doesnt and it's been this way for years and years. Just recently (4 weeks ago) I played some DayZ and dusted off my old auto run macro (AHK) for the game. Worked just as well as it did in years past and battleye didn't care one bit.

Using autosprint also installed back APO Equalizer because I'd rather not play at all with flat sounds. If shit gonna happen well let it be.

I'm using my own little pack that has auto-sprint, annoying sound removal, USPStyle's Advanced Launcher, and killfeed / mission names edits.

Good. Leave it like that. Vivox is trash and no one should be using in game voip.

Noooooooooo! But part of the fun is hearing the other team rage on mic. And damn, now I can't be the kiss master anymore 😞 my reign of smooching is over 😞

Oh yea, it works just fine.

    There's just 2 issues:

    1. they are most likely not banning instantly since it's new and all. They are most likely monitoring flags.

    2. they might make changes later on, that could pick these edits.

a bit paranoid, sure, but just be aware it could be possible.

    Fair enough.

They've said nothing in regards to that.

Prob just goes under the "Against the TOS".

After doing a fresh APB install and doing some testing: Deleting unnecessary (district-specific) compat files + replacing certain audio packages with blank files + 'removing' a lot of audio files + always sprint edit + different killfeed / misson description edits (via localization) all seem to work fine under BattleEye.

    If you get this error

    s1KDpyR.png

It's because Ninja ripper dumped .dll files in the APB directory.

They are used for the injection method and they're safe to delete.

Same goes for most other files that show up as blocked.

What's the word on localization edits / deleting district specific compats?

  12. Hoping someone from Little Orbit can answer this: Are we going to see stricter bans for people that repeatedly group up with cheaters?

To clarify: I feel that people who are grouped, as in manually teaming up with a cheater or cheaters, should be temp banned for a 1st offense, a longer temp ban for their 2nd offense and a permanent account ban for their 3rd offense. I also don't think this should be something that happens to someone immediately. Instead I would hope this only happens after a few initial repeat offenses -> "Hmm, this person has manually grouped with x people over time who have been banned for cheating" vs "Hey this guy may not have known his friend was cheating *BANHAMMER*"

Not sure I think that this is a good idea. It'd potentially completely break both DM and item hold final stages. Even the double drop off stage you could get the item stuck up there if you were in the lead and wait it out. I guess you could make it respawn all items somewhere 'inbounds' automatically, though.

I think you misread. I want the old ability to climb up on buildings with cars and what not while out of mission but anyone in a mission will be counted as out of bounds and killed/teleported.
