  1. Hello Matt, that really sounds great, I haven't been here for ages, well at least not logged in and writing.

I hope you will soon migrate the existing accounts and characters into the OTW. It is vital for further testing that we have a lot of maximum customized characters running and testing around. Many previous tests have shown that this has a major impact on performance, crashes and bugs. So it shall definately be done before anything goes live.

This is the nice effect of a free2cheat game.
Put a 1$ pass for entry (maybe just social district should be free)
And cheater population will be zero in 2 hours.
Plus a lot of nice player (with full wallet) will come ❤️

Note: If donT agree you are a cheater.

Oh Kelly, people paid monthly money for getting their premium hacks, 1$ for an account activation will not remove cheaters. At best reduce them a bit by the number of poor kids not able to spend that 1$.

Since battle eye was brought back, suddenly the game became easier. I saw a lot less level 255's around, some of my friends on the other hand have been experiencing crashes because of battle eye. Both have admitted to cheating in the past and even having the cheats completely removed.

So I would say Battle Eye is doing a lot better than Easy Anti Cheat.

    Doubt ist does better.

But bringing in a new anticheat will always make most closets stop playing for a while to make sure there are existing hacks that work properly with the anticheat. They just aren't stupid enough to risk their accounts. We saw this behavior with every Anticheat or major anticheat update that came. The magical "skill" vacation but it surely has nothing to do with the anti cheta, it's coincidence. as always.

    Hi all,

We're going to be making a change to the anti-cheat soon, and I want to walk the community through it instead of brushing it under the rug.

I'll start with why we are no longer sticking with Easy Anti-Cheat.

When we negotiated the deal with Kamu (Epic Games), the service was supposed to be client and server side. The critical reason for moving was their management tools and the server side piece which we didn't get with BattlEye. However, we also agreed to pay more to get that. The client side integration was fairly smooth, but the server side integration hit immediate snags. We spent months trying different configurations with the networks to get them talking properly, and when that didn't work, both sides dedicated programming support to fix the issues. When it still didn't work, we started exploring other ways to possibly fix it, but Kamu said based on our concurrency we wouldn't like get good results anyway. More recently I was finally contacted by their head of development with the news that they could no longer justify the resources to finish the server side integration. So then we attempted to work out a reduction in pricing. But we couldn't come to a compromise, so we have mutually decided to end the agreement.

Clearly, we will need to keep evaluating server side solutions or build our own, because I have yet to see one that works well enough.

During my discussions with various providers, I also went back to BattlEye. Their solution has had some nice improvements since we left, so we're going to give that a try again.

Next I want to talk about the current cheating issues in APB.

While we do have some private cheats for EAC floating around, I will say that is still in the low single digit percentages for our entire population. However, we do have a problem right now with scripted triggerbots and aimbots. These are an entirely different category of cheat, because they are typically built with the hot key/mouse scripting systems. They are easy to spot, but they are easy to false positive. There are many legitimate uses for scripting systems, and players don't often realize they are enabled by default when they enter the game.

With all of that in mind, once we switch to BattlEye we are going to start taking measures against the systems that these cheats are written in. This may be a little bumpy, and I guarantee some players will not read the forums and find themselves very frustrated. But I am taking this step to let all of you to know in advance, that you need to disable your macros and hot key / mouse scripting systems.

Anti-cheat will always a work in progress.

We will continue to iterate on this.

We need a level playing field for players to have fun.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Ok, just a few questions:

    1. is there a clear notification for this ingame? Or at least send an email to everyone that macros are not allowed anymore.

Otherwise your Support will be flooded with non Forum readers getting banned.

    2. is Support even prepared?

to get flooded with all the Mails and hardened up to hear all the amazing stories of why the ban is false. or how dramatically innocent someone is because relative X came over to play or the 3yo brother played apb for th first time immediately installing all the hacks?.

    3. Do I rally need to clear my hotkeys utilising single keys?

So all extra keys assigned buttons will not work anymore (or trigger bans)?  Also, this can absolutely cause horrible bans if so may someone just forgets to switch a mouseprofile to an empty one after playing another game. I would expect a proper anticheat to check for macros automating multiple steps not single key strikes.

But except from those 3 things, hearing we get work on an anticheats again is good.

People still haven't realised that you shouldn't destroy/block spawners?

You can abuse them so hard and force enemies in to certain spawns/instantly know where they are coming from.

since car spawner aren't forced spawns this isn't even true, except against people who anyways are too bad to understand this, but against those you do't need such tactics anyways.

The biggest issue is still the regular spawn system itself. because it usually only offers spawns from 1 or 2 directions and not around the location, this causes you to technically only having 1 or 2 true respawns since all others are the same direction but just further away meaning wasting more time for walking.

I could not agree more here.

Its super annoying when you have 1 or 2 people constantly killing you in a mission hearing their themes.10+ times in a  match it really irritates the daylights out of me.

Thats the point it should motivate you to play harder and die less :D

the only thing the game should be able to do is max the volume and cut off those trolly thees with high pithces and pure noise at max volume.

That's the issue, you have to give up game experience and play with silly explosive weapons because you can't destroy Vegases 4x4 and tanks otherwise.

It's like you play 2vs2, the fight happens, both teams lose 1 person so it's 1vs1, you have to do the objective which is a car, I quickly hop to my tank and push it around so you can't do shit to stop me.

not only this, it makes most other cars just plain out inferior choices. which is the exact opposite of what APB was emant to be: a game abyout style. Thats why we do not have attributes on clothings, to prevent everyone looking the same.  But the 4x4, car surfer and mobile spawn as well as being able to resupply anywhere completely shifted car gameplay to like 3 cars since durability is key. Carsurfer made 4 seats unnecessary. deployable ammo box and remmo on even car deployers made resupply in cars obsolete. And mobile spawn definately went to the top priority of blue mods in cars. And this killed car variety.

Volcano on top just made things worse. Not like the lower HP cars already instant popped already.

not really, i didn't start playing apb yesterday so itsn't my reason for sure, it's unfair that enforcer have that many stun guns while crims have nothing like that, and i don't think it's a big deal if they nerfed it, u don't know how annoying when someone shot u with any gun just 1 shot and then switching to PIG and u done or u already DMGed and he give u only 1 hit with PIG, it's annoying gun and not fun, and idk if im only who feel this way, but if nobody feel the same as me then i wont talk about it anymore.

Stabba is nerfed so much more than any other weapon system. just take the N-tec and if you cannot beat LTl you are just worse than your opponent and should be thankful that they don't use lethal wepaons because they would dominate you even more.

LTL is just the worst playstyle by inheriet performance you can use atm.

  9. Little Orbit wants to offer the service to germany, so those symbols are forbidden by law in germany

    https://www.ida-nrw.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Texte_zum_Download/Rechtsextremismus/Rheims_Symbole_Rechte_Szene.pdf

and therefore LO needs to keep the game clean of them. Otherwise legal consequences could follow.

Not sure what else changed since the blogpost of "drawing the line" which made genitals and body fluids invalid symbols too.

  10. yes thats the right thread that should be,, it should be pinned on top, because between all the pinned stuff it just slipped off the first page already.

It's anyway sin a questionable location, because weekly maintenance would not belong into the game update section. It should be pinned in the server status category.

The best way to keep up with patchnote posts on the forums is just the admin tracker:

You'll find all these (since Sept 13th):

    https://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/11142-patch-notes-1200-1167/

    https://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/11311-patch-notes-1200-1170/

    https://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/11537-patch-notes-1200-1175/

    https://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/11561-halloween-hotfix-1200-1177/

    https://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/11826-patch-notes-1200-1182-pc/

And weekly maintenance has nearly always been on wednesday at the exact same time, for the past X years I don't see why that would have changed all of a sudden.

this is great good for everyone who palys the game for years Guess we do not consider the game has new players or gets them right?

They generally used to announce regular maintenance, but idk anymore.

Most of the forum posts here are months, if not years old on my end, minus the few like this that drip through sometimes.

Not sure if its a bug, or if somehow my acct decided to sort forum lists itself...

also, lets not forget the small text ingame saying check forum

    need "more details"

With the amount of people always whining about server problems (I haven't had many myself, aside from DDOS attacks), among the plethora of changes going through the game compared to G1 ownership, it makes sense not to have estimated downtimes.

Gotta keep in mind, G1 made some crazy spaghetti code that LO has to sort through to fix everything.

but aren't we just gettign regular maintenance? that shouldn't be out of some extraordinary things and then giving a leats a minimu downtime prevents people from having to try it every hour when it's like 3 hours

Np No but that would be nice ,a post in the forums or something in the main page of the forums

they dont for obvious reasons xd

At least a post with the link to that G1 page would be good.
