I've had people taunt me one match, i'd been using like Odin series against a meta comp (maybe 10 kills or so total with more deaths). Opp decided to taunt and call me bad. Next match, changed to meta, had the same ones crying hacker (20+kills and sub 10 deaths).
Â
Look, if i'm "playing bad" its either been a while since I've played, an off day, or I'm using "fun" weapons to nerf myself so I can get weapon roles done, and not 100% pubstomp enemies. But when someone decides to push that button. Ooooh boooy!

ÂBut I find it becomes less about winning when you have matches as large as 10vs10
It's more about enjoying the all out war unfolding within a city block and trying out new ideas. Ideas that would never work in a 2v2-5v5 match.
I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy going head to head and being competitive.
For me though, 10 vs. 10 allows for me to play APB casually. I'm allowed to take risks and be creative. Small matches don't allow this without it being extremely punishing if I fail.Â
Then, due to how punishing it feels to fail in APB, there is no real choice but having to pick guns that can actually have a chance at winning.
Â
Make no mistake, my thoughts aren't trapped in a vacuum. Large matches don't magically fix: bad weapon balancing, stuttering, and map design.
Â
But these large and chaotic matches are just what makes my brain tick. No matter if I end up winning or losing.
I never minded losing if it was a fun/good match, or if it felt relatively balanced. My issue is that at larger matches, it tends to end up being a curb stomp, or such a cluster f*ck that you either barely scape by either stage due to imbalanced spawns, or just outright lose, due to imbalanced spawns. End stage? Good luck if its an item and they move it into a open sniping ledge, or deathmatch with whoever has more silvers, and VIP is just meh in general. (laughs in killing the VIP then spawn chasing the rest of the game)
Â
I tended to play casually except against certain players. Losing didn't matter heavily, though I still tried at times just because. (sometimes only because it would punish my team if i didnt actually play up to the oppositions level) I still hate moving items via movement glitches, and killing 1 then running, etc.
Â
Casual is more a mindeset.
Â
If i'm playing casual, i'm probably not using a meta weapon, and trying to level up my weapon roles. If i'm "trying" i'm probably using meta.

Still I recognize people like their 3v3 matches. But if I had a choice I would go 10v10 every day of the week.I have to try this, but my past experiences from the ooooold days are this:
Â
1v1s - absolute garbage
2v2s - absolute garbage
3v3 fairly balanced
4v4 balanced
5v5 relatively balanced
6v6 unbalanced towards defenders
7v7+ just broken, no way to lose when defending unless you're all bad or the enemy team is just a bunch of coordinated tryhards or bots.

The grenade makes every anti vehicle weapon usless!
Â
Some other weapons need a hard damage reduction. We have many anti vehcile weapons but they are to weak in general use. For the Concurssion Grenade you dont lose a primary weapon slot and can kill every vehicle fast.
Â
I see so much players they can throw the Concurssion Grenade with 100% to high speed vehciles and players in far distance. The grenade mechanic is bad. We have grenade launchers no one use it (only OPGL is usefull and OP).
The EOL Grenade Launcher Series is total useless... because you lose an primary weapon.
Â
Also the general weapon system need to be reworked, not the weapon itself. But if you are Using NTec + AC 50. Pistol + Concurssion Grenade = you have the best of the best for all situations, why using other weapons?!
Conc isnt that great tbh. A bunch of vehicles got buffed life, and the conc remained the same 1k damage. Making it worse against high tier vehicles than before. Add it the fact that -it's not easy to use, and takes a lot of practice to get right, and even then it's buggy as all hell. (I've thrown concs onto vehicles, and no visible/heard damage occured. It's really only useful to destroy car spawners once they've stopped moving at this point.
Â
The people who have great accuracy with concs are rare. Most have years of play practice...
Â
EOLs are not great, but they can be fun. The conc one is the best of the EOLs, but the others are eh. The worst part is they all suffer from the OPGL/grenade through floor glitch.
Â
NTec isn't the end all be all as much anymore, especially in cqc with the high bloom/accuracy. CQC weapons still perform better, but it still easily presents a problem from CQC-far midrange. STAR however, can do just the same if not better in cqc... The only difference is a ~.07ttk. FAR is arguably better with the same out of aim stats as the star but a .7ttk.
Â
While I can agree that AV weapons aren't as good at AP as the AP counterpats. They aren't the worst.
Â
NTEC +.45+conc- covers a wide range. .45 helps cover cqc heavily, while the NTEC coveres mid. The conc is just high damage for vehicles and people.
Â
I personally prefer NTEC + Fr0g/.45 + Frags

No Idea why a VPN would get you banned... I use nord VPN on other games with no issues... I havent used it too much with APB since i dont play much, but I assume i've been fine.
That said, i dont know what a lower latency program is.... and i have no experience with them. Regardless, use at ones own risk.
Br's (hue) would use VPNs to play on Joker once they were locked out. -

The changes intended to improve its performance ended up making it feel more like a support weapon rather than a primary choice due to the slower bolt timer. It's disappointing that the actions of a specific team member may have negatively impacted game balance, contributing to its decline.
Â
The link from weapon swap to bolt timer, was due to reverse quickswitching on the scout.
Â
There has been no change to the TTK of the scout, and the damage was buffed. Do I think the equip time could be lowered slightly? Probably, but do we need reverse-quick switching back? Not really.

To get LO to resegregate districts, to no avail. So LO knows how much misery they put bronze/silver players in.
For the most part people are right in saying We don't have the population to put segregation in place here and now.
If they did, it would be a long long waiting game for both low threat and high threat for missions.Â
As it is we are waiting too long with the new mm, however if the server is populated by enough lower threats,Â
the mm does seem to work to some degree.Â
What I see is that allot of the in district pop is sitting around, 'hanging out' which effects how the mm works.
The damage to the pop has been done long ago, allot of what I see in NA pop are peps from EU andÂ
Hard-core Pro players, when the NA pop is nearly a full server 50/50, and we had some extra peps forÂ
Valentines event. So there really isn't a large pop of bronze/silver, it is mostly golds.Â
I agree that there should be a place for the casuals and a place for the pro types, but the damageÂ
to the pop has been done. They need more events and or higher rewards ie cash and jt payouts, organized
activities ect, to bring back some of the lost pop.
I find that if you had a TM who went 0-10 vs golds, and mostly went afk. Well that my friend is a Cahoot.
A conspiresy put on by said golds and TM who are Buddies or somebody is hacking or cheating by screen share,Â
and or 'playing EZ to help out said low threat tm.Â
Not too far fetched to say some peps are using two computers, and playing both sides of a match at the same time.Â
So even if they put in segregation today, the same thing would happen.Â
They would simply dethreat in arranged matches to get into the lower threat district n raise hell.Â
This is one case where both Solid Golds and Solid Bronze agree, We both hate dethreaters.
I think they should just take threats away, or base it on something other than wins and losses.
I also think that either the threat should be reset each day or week, and or once you've achieved a threat,Â
You keep it till the next reset or forever.Â
Â
Â
District segregation, made Joker pop go from 2-3k to 800-1.5k, in 3 months, and it never recovered. It only went down after that. The issue is that no new content other than a few weapons, and Asylum, was added in almost 10 YEARS. You think that the population is going to stay high, when there's little to no content, no new maps, and no new content in 7-8 years?
Â
Gold has always been too easy to get. I alone can carry bronze/silver players into gold, with a handful of tips, and grouping them for like 10-15 missions.
Â
The other issue, is that the "pro types" abused the shit out of every bug and glitch to win, and hindered the game drastically with their try hard antics of always needing that win nomatter what, and LO and G1, didn't fix half the glitches EVEN NOW, and the others they fixed years too late.
Â
Segregation when it was put in place, put every cheat, tryhard, and hacker into one place, sure, but it also destroyed clans, preventing anyone with any semblance of skill, from grouping and mentoring new players. 3 months after segregation ended, I went into silver, and the silvers and bronzes were stupidly worse than the bronzes/silvers pre-lock, to the point it was just pathetic.. My clan died from Gold lock. 100 pop clan with a max of 20-30 members active at once different days, went to effectively dead with maybe 6 on... in 3 months during gold lock. So no, I will never pretend gold lock or "threat segregation" was or is a good thing. I see the issue with LO/G1 not fixing glitches, broken areas, broken missions, and no new content.
Â
However, we the community also shot ourselves in the foot. We said we wanted the engine upgrade, and to put content aside until then. That same engine upgrade won't happen to the degree that it was supposed to and so we got a half upgrade, and no content after 4-8 years of waiting.
Â
So yeah... We can blame the golds and segregation, but the pop was never going to last with threat seg in the first place. The biggest issue, is no new content and no good tutorial. 3rd biggest factor is just the community was toxic af and hoping for change that ended up not quite coming.
Â

Â
Popped in for a match yesterday. I got 6-8 kills, maybe 4-6 deaths, 1 gold both sides 2 silvers. Their gold and 1 silver rq. I havent played consistently in years, and the last time i played a mach was months ago, Im not even half as good as I used to and had 2 rqs.... Soooooooo..... yeaaaah people just going to quit over anything this point.

Flash bangs would be atrocious. im glad they aren't in APB.
Â
Molotovs could be added, however, it should only do minor damage over time if running over it, and should do enough damage if landing on someone, to do like 40-70% life damage total over 4-6 seconds, with only 1 per resup. And stacked molotovs do nothing to an already flaming player. To prevent running around for 4-7 seconds waiting to die from 2-3 being lobbed on you lol.
Â
If set to 40% damage for example, it would be akin to a perc. No big deal, but should do a bit more hard damage imo.
Â
That said, damage could be increased if a consumable was added to extinguish flame in an area... could then possibly have it doing more damage as a slight balance to it being able to be removed.

If they were to flesh out the crims, you would really have to be very very carful about what you are going to do. Otherwise you would have to back peddle.

Pretty much.
Â
They still haven't fixed several exploits that came with removing pickup animations. They made some harder to do for heavy items, but medium items it's free game to move at sprint speed using them.
Â
Any other major exploits have mostly been fixed, or locations removed from having access to, because of how scummy some players are. RIP moonship

This has mixed results as you bring up in your post because ultimately all contacts need to have some pool of missions anyway, and not all of them would be using the same language or style of speaking, so some missions are thrown into the pools of characters that simply don't talk that way or don't have the motivations described in the flavor text.
Â
I've got to say though, the notion of individual missions being assigned to specific contacts sounds kinda cool. Makes me think of the game occasionally offering you a mission instead of assigning you into one at random; "this contact is offering you this specific mission that's only available from them in this form, you'll receive increased mission rewards for taking part, do you agree?" or stuff like that.
Certain missions already are only available through certain contacts. I think there was something a bit back, where people would run specific contacts to avoid certain missions.
Â
For example, Teng doesnt give bankroll collection, but TY Durrant does, explosive investigation is from TY but Teng does explosive material.
Â
Actually, I didnt realize this, but missions also depend on group size. So you can get certain missions from 2v2 but others are 3/4+.
Â
See below for Ty then click missions to see his mission list. It's a little different from Tengs, and all contacts i guess then have something slightly different.

I feel like that's kind of what they were going for but they missed the mark; comic booky surface level to not make it feel too serious. But then everything feels uninteresting and most people ignore the lore entirely
Faction lore gets funky. Character lore is soooo much better.
Â
Praetorians - Corporation owned "security" that amounts to ex military, alcoholics, poor guys looking to make a difference, and business analytics working together. Controls the "riot squad" which is a corporation owned "dispersial unit" for the city. The same corporations that they are protecting are causing a lot of problems for people. As others said "private militia"
ÂPrentiss Tigers - Litterally just a bunch of rich kids who want to party on the beach. Except for devil dog, who for whatever reason, is an ex military sniper which just doesn't seem to fit with most of the prentiss crowd it feels. They are more "rich homeboys and high rep people wanting to make a difference and keep the peace". "rich boy militia"
Â
Roses and g-kings - Im not familiar with their lore as i rarely paid attention to crim. But it comes off as 2 gangs fighting eachother and the enforcers where none of them are really bright. With one or two of them having rich pretty boy faces whos pulling strings behind the scenes for anarchy.
Â
If you want better functioning lore, the emails you get sent are hardly notable of it and are definitely more fun quips than actual lore. The character backgrounds as you unlock which describe the NPCs of the faction tend to be soo much better. Looking at like Justin Tengs or TY Durrants, maybe even Mirri kent for example has great lore for where they are in the faction and what they do. I cant say how good the criminal backgrounds are though. I very much have a preference towards the attitude and demeaner and lore of the Praetorian crowd.
Â

They are not supposed to be revolutionaries, they just recruit idionts and lowlifes with this (just like real life revolutionaries).
Â
Enforcers, on the other hand, are presented as: a private militia with licence to kill, and a rich kids private militia with license to kill. And seeing who they are killing, they're actually starting to look like good guys.
It's no secret from the very beginning, that praetorians were hired by the mayor because of failure of local law enforcement. And they arent pretending to be anything other than private army for hire. Same goes to the tigers, who are funding themselves just because they did have the funds in the first place.Â
On 8/18/2023 at 9:03 AM, mtz said:ÂAny one of my friends that I've met through APB will know that I'll jump at any chance to talk about its lore, chiefly because of how little attention it gets, so this thread is a godsend to me
It also gives me an excuse to revisit all the bios and e-mails on APBDB, so that's cool too!
Â
The kicker in APB's world is that every faction is composed of hardliners dedicated to its ideals and of opportunists or pragmatists who see it purely as set dressing. This applies to both sides and to all four main factions. The underlying issue with almost everything in San Paro is injustice, and each faction – disregarding the aforementioned opportunists, who are playing their own game – adapts a different approach to the problem.
Â
Arlon Benjamin, the man in charge of the G-Kings, earnestly believes in his ideals of leaving behind a better world, disillusioned by the San Paro government bowing down to corporate interests and by private corporations deploying armed forces to enact their own rule. Shift sincerely preaches her ideals of subverting authority through free expression and winning people's hearts over bodies. Javez wants to paint the world, express himself, find his place in the world and a crew to call family. This is contrasted by Grayson Fell – Arlon's right hand man – being a fixer purely in the business for personal gain, or by Terri Quan, who's happy to be a pawn and information scout as long as she gets a thrill out of it... or Arlon's own daughter Bonita, who's really psyched about this whole "gangster princess" thing and the ways she profits off that status.
Â
Prentiss Tigers – an anti-gang of sorts, dedicated to defending the neighborhood of Prentiss – are led by Orlenz' Moretti, whose grandfather was a feared and notorious criminal and whose father chose to go corporate and ditch petty crime for higher profits. (Hell, "in the modern world, you can steal more with a handshake and a business diploma that you can with a gun, and all of it legitimately" is a literal quote from Orlenz's in-game biography.) Right below him in the progression ladder is Byeong Lee, an old retired deputy commissioner of the San Paro Police Department, who resigned in disgrace when it was leaked to the press that he believed in bringing about peace through lethal measures towards lawbreakers. You have Darryl Kent, who works for the Praetorians but relays intel to the Tigers to avenge his girlfriend who got killed by the Blood Roses, and his older sister Miranda, whose bio and e-mails exude big marketing ghoul energy. (She openly says it's a shame he doesn't want to turn the story of his girlfriend's death into a marketable movie to profit the Tigers. Seriously, even APB writers knew all that time ago that no one who works in marketing is a human being. :^) )
Â
In terms of private military companies, the Praetorians are half what-you-see-is-what-you-get mercenaries and half nice faces for PR. Ty Durrant is just on board because he gets to shoot criminal scum. Hea Choi is there with intentions to be their oversight, making sure that their efforts don't cross certain lines. Grissom is a former special forces operator and he's stuck in the war mindset. Eva Orlandez is an upper class young adult who joins up to have cool stories to tell but grows to actually believe in the public mission of the Praetorians. There's also Ernst 'Mule' Templeton, who's a weird (for the organization) mix of being a hardened veteran hellbent on bringing an end to the urban war in San Paro, but still finding the humanity in himself to understand that his brand of getting things done is not always the best way. There's also his comments on Sabbat, where he acknowledges her reasons behind joining and shows compassion, but says that she should not be putting herself in the line of fire for her own sake and she might be in over her head.
Â
The Roses specifically are rich partying brats led by people who realized that having a smoke-screen of self-absorbed clout chasers works well when you can focus their bloodrush on some kind of goal. Seung is jealous of his cousin Jeung's higher status in the Blood Roses hierarchy, being an obvious case of an inferiority complex. Jeung himself absolutely cannot fathom the possibility of not being the biggest fish in the sea, living in a constant state of fury at the concept of being disrespected. Britney is a living stereotype of a rich bimbo partygirl, pretty much being beneficial to the Roses purely by being so shameful to her parents that they're eager to put funds towards a media blackout of the gang, just so people wouldn't learn what their precious daughter Clarissa is up to.
None of these dorks could ever lead any serious criminal organization – which is something Byron Bloodrose also half-acknowledges in his e-mails. This is why Tyron Sennet and Michael Simeone are there. The partying and being insufferable is a deliberate distraction (whether the distractions themselves realize it or not), because while you're furious at the crimes of these spoiled brats going unpunished, you fail to notice the puppeteers piloting these same brats. All the daring heists and public displays of arrogance spoil the perpetrators by giving them fame and glory and fill the wallets of those behind the scenes.
Â
The partying part of the Blood Roses doesn't want to change things. They're just comfortable enough being rich/famous/powerful within the existing framework. And as long as the scheming part of the Blood Roses keeps the partying part happy, they can cause all the changes they want to see piece by piece, day by day, one crime leading to another. After all, it's a marathon, not a race.

It was such a confusing thing because half the vets could have adjusted the TTK speed, damage, and bloom recoil, per weapon, better to match that of RTW or a better balance than RTW with an increased TTK average point, within a few days testing than what was given.
Â
Like hey, "we want to see you to average weapon TTK's from .7s to 1.25s. and adjust the damage/bloom/recoil to make it similar to RTW". -Community would have hopped onto that and ate it up likely giving the best "RTW TTK" type balance seen in existence just on forum posts alone, with tons of data point thoughts to work with xD
