I'm not much of an MMO player. Besides APB the only online game I played regularly before was "City of Heroes", and in-game community was very friendly with players helping each other out on a regular basis (Admittedly it's not a PvP game, at least when I played it). In APB however players seem a bit more "aggressive" and help out less as far I can say.

So I'd like to motivate fair play by asking: What do you do in-game (no matter how small) to be friendly and help out your fellow players?

One thing I do is, if I'm cruising around town in my car between missions and I accidently hit another player's car causing it to flip off its wheels, then I turn around and try to push it back onto it's wheels - even if they are in the other faction.

Well for starters, I always try to help newbies, if I see them a bit confused, or if I get opposed to them, or if I see them using wrong mods on weapons or not cooking grenades.

I always stop playing and start advising them from my own experience, I refer them to apbdb.com to learn more, and there has been few cases where I switch to my crim and I roll with them to show them around, if they were really nice.

I handed out in-game cash a countless times to many of the silvers/bronzes we trolled as they ramraided because I always felt bad, and I even sent people money who just politely asked in district.

For me as an experienced premium player, 10k might not be much, but to a newbie, it can mean the car he really wants.

That's about it, and I assure you, the community here is very nice once you learn to ignore the sour ones.

Lately I've found handicapping against less skilled people leads to better gaming experience. FBW only vs silvers, half-brick only against bronzes and not do objectives, let them win. Using primary feels wrong and dirty. But yeah, matchmaking is as horrible as ever.

City of Heroes... For 8 years i've been part of one of the best communities in MMO-world.

Most of the time i honk if i accidently hit someone, if they flip over i try to push em back up. Though when rushing to a mission-point, i always keep my sirene on, sadly not everyone understands im in a hurry.

same for ramraiders, i often drive up to them, hit the sirene and jump out of the car. If its a lowbie, i just tell him i wont witness and should be aware of the money they keep. I even gave away some no-slot cars, cars i never use anymore and i needed space.

If i team up with a lowbie or newbie, i always let them drive. Or when someone checking my car, i team up and let them drive. Its only minor things, but it helps i hope

I try not to kill people who are raging and insulting others in district chat. Instead i shoot beanbags at them until the get tired and sit down. Then i use funny emotes like /dancecomical to cheer them up. Sometimes it makes people so happy that they exit the game and give me a free win to show their appreciation.

Yeah. Unfortunately I was so much out of the loop CoH-wise, that I completely missed that they shut down two weeks ago :-( If I had known about it earlier I would have played again for a few weeks.

Good job. By letting bronzes win you made them a higher threat and they will be placed against harder opp.

I was a big time City player. It was a very bittersweet ending...but I'm very glad I took part. The community in that game was unlike anything else, and I've got quite a lot of friends for life from there.

On topic, I help out opposition with tips if they seem rather new. Sometimes they don't listen or think I'm trying to mislead them, but I at least try and help out. I try and avoid hitting people as much as I can, and just try as much as I can to not be a jerk.

Much appreciated they usually get really bitter for counter-griefing and follow the griefer hunter for a good 20-30 mins

To catch a bit of 'feeling' of the final hours, you really should check the video from Hitstreak, he recorded the last hour and you see him closing down facebook, twitter and stuff.. just the look on his face says it all. Also there are 2 awsome fanmade video's, really catch the atmosphere of what CoH is. But its not only the game, or its community, its also the developers behind the game, those are the example of the MMO-industry.

One mission out of 10 losses, wont change much.

I often dont let them win, but i do give them enough chances to understanding the shooting. Dodging, carchases (some really like those) or just cover-fire, so they learn not just standing in the open road and shooting. (rather then being 2shot with no idea where it came from).

If a bronze beats a gold yes it does matter. Its not JUST win loss it's who you beat that decides threat.

Sometimes I like to kill my own teamate holding the briefcase if he's really adamant about running away from the enemy team in an item hold mission. I guess it's kind of a muscet thing to do, but that's what they get for taking winning so seriously.

Why do you care so much about some gold helping a bronze player out? Threat's more stagnant than ever, one win or loss barely means anything anymore.

Well my clan tries to make it a goal to never use any sort of cheap tactics in missions. I always help flip people back over if I see them flip (asuming I have the time to). I've given money out to people I didnt know sometimes for buying a theme or a mod (dont come spam me asking for it though). I've always been open to helping people selecting mod choices or gun choices.. If I see someone ghosting/griefing a mission and I'm not on one i'll try and grief him back out of the way.

Dunno, I do what I can. Too many people in this game with massive egos and trolly behavior.

Depends on the day. Usually when i quit apb for some time, and come back, i try helping people. Not run into them, and flip their cars back. But that usually lasts for 2 missions max after i realise how everyone in apb is a total retard. So yea, most of the time i get bigger cars so i dont have to outmanouver retards, or i can just run into them on purpose because it feels good. Get people stuck in corners while im waiting for a mission, use the grief truck, push people around corners when oposition is shooting them. YES to all of that.
