How do people make such good themes like Keyboard cat and stuff like that? DO they figure out the notes themselves or what?

I guess they look at MIDI-versions of the songs they would like, and use the pattern in the Music Creator in-game. :)

I sound them out.
First I figure out all of the instruments used in the clip.
Then I find a close enough match to each instrument in the editor studio.
Then I build it one instrument at a time.
First the kick drum and snares. Then the cymbals if any. Then I move onto bass. Strings. Keys. Etc.

I find a note sheet for the song and then copy-paste it into the editor. Then I listen to it a few times and try to get the drums and whatever other instrument right.
And we're still waiting for the article on low TTK from Qwentle...............
The change sucks and has severely damaged competitive play in the game.

Years in choir and spending two years at University for Music Ed. helps me create awesome 8-bit themes...

That and I love composing.

Just pay someone to make some epic tunes for you

For the love of god, please do look for some other death tunes... it was bad enough in retail where everyone bought and used the same one.
Perhaps I'm returning..

It fits so well though.
I didn't come across a single person with it. Then again, I didn't die that often.

To make my themes I downloaded Fruity loops and would

1. Download midis from web
2. import midi
3. run apb in windowed mode
4. loop lets say 10 secs or however long the speed of theme would allow
5. Try to match the dots as close as possible ( the piano bars are usually similar )

*warning this method is very tedious but helpful for the 8-bit de-clined*

Themes I used:

Millenium -robbie benson (lame I know but thats how lame it was if I killed you haha)
Degeneration x -wwe

A few others but if this helps I still have this link in my fav's

Hopefully a central server. I've formed a criminal based clan but that doesn't really matter as I'll be able to put the tunes on the AH or just send them to you personally.

Looking forward to working with you

there are many people like myself who were musicians for many years in school or in any other way. Basically in order to ever be a decent musician it takes ear training which after a while it gets easy to hear pop songs and figure out the notes/instruments.

In short: practice

It's really not hard to do it by ear...

Or is that just me?

Also relevant... I think I may have been the only one to use the Super Metroid Maridia Theme. Damn shame, that. Then again, I never bothered trying to sell it... precisely because I don't want everyone else using it. Heh.

I think I was the only one using obscure chiptunes. :)

nice, i like your pick-up at 1:06 a had a few small compositions that didn't really fit the APB play lol but i used them anyway. i have played in orchestra's since i was 8, now i play in my university orchestra. i play the violin and i really do think having a music background helps make some killer tunes, but everyone should be able to make a tune they enjoy without too much hastle

It is called a good ear and patience. You can use synthesia with midi and piano notes/sheet music to transfer notes of themes if you are musically challenged. There are many videos on how to do it.

synthesia makes you pay to see the notes.
