So, I'm looking at buying Windows 7, comparing this and this. I've compared them all, and decided on Ultimate, so don't try to discuss that with me, 'cuz that's what I want and nothing you say can change that. tongue.gif

The question is, system builders or retail?

The documentation I can find on the system builders version states:

QUOTE
This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support for the Windows software

Which is fine for me - I don't contact massive corporations for support... ever.

However, I'm confused about this (previous quote continued):

QUOTE
and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed.

Common sense tells me that I could upgrade my computer and it would take it, but there's something nagging at me here... If I fry my CPU, will that look like another computer? If I scrap my computer and keep nothing but the hard drive that it's installed on when upgrading, will that look like another computer? Something inside me tells me yes, but something else tells me "no, that's stupid", but then the first thing says "yea, well, it's Microsoft", and the cycle continues.

Opinions?

I guess I'm asking, at which point is the System Builders version going to become convinced that it's on a new computer and won't allow the OS to be used?

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/04/chrysle...duct-breakdown/

The highlights:
  • New Deisel Wrangler - 2010
  • Fiat 500, Cabrio, and Abarth - 2010, 2011, 2010 (respectively)
  • No more viper after 2011 (possible remake in 2012)
  • PT Cruiser dies
  • Dodge pickup line is split, and becomes "Ram Trucks"
  • and more...

Opinions? Will this be enough to save Chrysler? Their financial people are saying that Chrysler will have enough money to pay back the government in 2014 - is that just wishful thinking?

This thread is for you to post what you've done to your house (or seen done to another house) for Halloween, whether it be turn your house into a haunted house, or got it TP'd by upsetting some people who know where you live, we want pics! Costumes are also fair game.

Hurt Edit: This is not a 'Google' thread, thanks!

ALL FORUM RULES STILL APPLY

This thread is for discussion of the maintenance scheduled for Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 at 2PM PDT.

Just like every other week, maintenance does not necessarily mean patch. If there is a patch, it will not be known until everyone has downloaded a patch to their client. The creation of this thread does not change that, this is merely a place for people to discuss the maintenance.

Thread Guidelines:

Do:
  • Discuss your hopes for the maintenance
  • Note things that you see get added should there happen to be a patch
  • Discuss changes that you notice anywhere
  • Constructively discuss things that might make the game better.
  • Be social

Do Not:
  • Discuss other versions of the game
  • Post videos of other versions of the game
  • Offer to send users links to anything pertaining to other versions of the game
  • Request links to anything pertaining to other versions of the game
  • Rant about the current condition of the game
  • Post spam (i.e. posts solely containing of images, or incredibly short responses
  • Insult other users, or be anti-social

If this thread gets out of hand, it will be closed by a moderator or admin and the offending users may have their posting rights suspended.

Any spamming will lead to a one day posting suspension.

Please keep all maintenance discussion limited to this thread, or the thread discussing further server changes.

This topic will automatically open at 10AM PST and will close at midnight PST.

So, newegg is having a hard drive sale currently (extra 15% off internal, external, laptop, and Mac hard drives with the promocode hddsale15) and I'm trying to pick a new one. I'm hoping to be in the range of 1TB of storage, so I'm namely looking at these 8.

Does anyone have experience with any of these, or could offer an opinion of one vs another? Obviously I'm going to need a SATA cable for this (which I have).

Latency is all in the same range, and I probably don't need the RAID class one.

Also, I tend to keep my computer online for about a week at a time (until slowfire forces me to restart >.<), so is there one of these that would handle it better than the other? I've had standard harddrives doing that for a few years now, so I don't see why there would be a problem, but there's always the chance.
