Welcome 9Dragons Forum Community!
I just wanted to share a few words from the moderator team at GamersFirst. I think I can speak for all of them, and I'm sure they'll call me out if they think I'm wrong. We all understand the extreme stress that some of you are feeling. A game that you have played for years and put large amounts of money into has just been cut with no warning, and you feel that you're in limbo. I first want to reassure you that, based on my experiences with GamersFirst as compared to other F2P game publishers, you are in some of the best hands in the business. I've participated in the GamersFirst community since early 2006, became a beta tester for War Rock in October 2006, and was offered a moderator position in 2008. When Diva, the then-ex-CL for War Rock announced to the War Rock beta testers that she had made new forums for GamersFirst that would show the company as a whole rather than different communities, I made an account here to assist her in finding and fixing various bugs that existed at the time. I was then made a member of the "mod squad" team - the moderator team that she envisioned as moderating the whole forums. In all this time, I haven't once looked at going to another game publisher's community because of some administrative screw-up, or any other reason. There have been times that I've been incredibly frustrated with some scenario, but never to the point where I just put my arms up and said "I quit." I understand that G1 understands and will do what they can to make it all right in the end, and I can assure you that that's what they're working to do here. I'd also like to add come clarifications for everyone about the mod team. The mods belong to various usergroups, but whether they are a mod for Knight Online, Sword of the New World, War Rock, Runes of Magic, or a member of the G1 Mod Squad, understand that we are all a team and that our goal is the same across the board. We have been handpicked by GamersFirst staff and tasked with the job of keeping the GamersFirst forums clean, and enforcing the rules that GamersFirst staff have put forth. While you may find that our actions sometimes frustrate you, or even seem over-the-top wrong, know that we're doing it because it's our job, not because we're firm advocates of cruel and unusual punishment. We love our respective games just as much as you love yours, and we want to keep it that way. I'd also point out that we don't really have any "leaders" within the mod team. There are members of the mod team who are called upon by the other moderators when a second opinion is needed based on longevity, or their incredible awesomeness at being a mod, but all difficult decisions are made by at least the game's team as a whole, if not by the whole mod team. While the "G1 Mod Squad" group name implies that the members are the "bosses", it's not really true. The G1 Mod Squad is a group of members who have been moderators since the GamersFirst forums were created, and are generally responsible for the integrity of the forum as a whole, stepping in where there are no other mods to do the job when needed. As always, if you feel that a mod has made an error of some sort, please inform your game's Community Liaison. The CLs are the mods' bosses, and their word is law to the mods. Understand, however, that the CLs frequently stand behind their mods and if you just rant and flame a mod to the CL, you're probably going to be ignored and/or receive a stricter punishment. A personal word from myself that I hope the other mods will work with, although they may do what they want in this regard. For the next few weeks (maybe less), I will not be adding warnings to peoples profiles should I see oversized, or animated signatures or avatars. I will, however remove them, and send a PM to the players informing them that I removed the signature/avatar and will include a link to the forum rules where signature and avatar guidelines are given. I will, however, add warnings for signatures/avatars that are profane, contain nudity, illegal content, etc, etc as I'm sure that Acclaim had similar guidelines for images in that regard. I'd also like to personally welcome you to the GamersFirst community and hope that you enjoy your stay! ~~GrnBeret2B P.S. To those of you that are/have/will try to PM me and get a message that my inbox is full - I'm sorry. I have 100 PMs of my allotted 100 PMs, and none that I can delete. I'm trying to get my inbox size increased, but don't have an ETA on when, or if, that will happen. P.P.S. I'm going to leave this topic open for your replies and/or questions. Know that I personally am in the middle of moving from one house to another so my ability to answer said replies and questions is severely hindered by the fact that stuff is in boxes and I just don't know when I'm going to be able to get on a computer next.

QUOTE Widespread reports are hitting the web that McAfee Antivirus update is causing major issues with end users PC’s. Reports are coming in that the “update to Dat 5958” is killing SVCHOST.exe. For those that don't know, SVCHOST.exe is quite possibly the MOST CRITICAL executable in the windows infrastructure. neat story about a 911 disaster drill during this

QUOTE ...the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism directed the operators of the three most popular games to block, starting by September, children under 18 from playing games between midnight and 8 a.m. Another rule will significantly slow down their internet connections if they play for too many hours into the night, rendering the more graphics-intensive games unplayable, and several other bills are pending in the National Assembly that could restrict kids' gaming habits even further. Why, might you ask? Well, I have a partial answer: QUOTE The government has introduced the ban one month after police discovered a three-month-old baby starved to death while her parents were busy nurturing their virtual baby on a game at an Internet cafe. The irony is too great. Also: QUOTE In February, a 22-year-old Korean man was charged with murdering his mother after she pestered him to stop playing. And then you have the sad lost souls... QUOTE "If teenagers can't play games late at night, they will find other ways to have fun by drinking and smoking," says Shin Tae-kyun, a 17-year-old computer game player. "Or, instead of playing during the night, they'll play during day when they should be studying."

For those that don't know (perhaps your country hasn't reported it, or, if you're in America, you're under a rock), a man named Joeseph Stack lit his house on fire this morning, proceeded to go to the airport, get in his plane, and fly it directly into the IRS building in North Austin at ~9:50AM CST. I personally watched the smoke rise from the wreck for about 20 minutes from my office window before the fire decreased to a somewhat workable amount, although the fire department still could not enter the building safely.
At the time speculation was running rampant - first it was an accident, then it was on purpose, then the department of homeland security said there was no reason to believe it was on purpose, now it's highly likely that Mr. Stack's actions were 100% deliberate, and are being referred to as "domestic terrorism". Before he took any of the above actions, he posted a suicide note on the internet entitled "Well Mr. Big Brother IRS man... take my pound of flesh and sleep well." in which he outlined his life to date, his grievances with tax law, and concluded with "violence is not only the answer, it is the only answer." What are your opinions? Has the US government become so corrupt that violence is the only answer? You can find the full text of the suicide note here. Be forewarned that there is a minor amount of language in this note.

So... Siege war is cool, but it can be better! How can it be better? With PLANES! (I know theres a few pilots out there, I'm going to need help making tweaks to the exterior of this thing. UO folks, I need you for the interior)
Basically, here's what I'm thinking. On the attacking end, we have your standard Engrene Main base (minus a gepard) 2 A-10s, 1 K1A1, 1 Chunma, a couple SGs, and add 2 leopards for good measure (where ever, I'm picturing to the right of the runways). This would all be ironed out at the end. The most important part is the missions. Mission 1 - Gain access to the fortress (i.e. BLOW UP A DOOR What does this look like you may ask? I present to you... the noob version of the sketchup fortress: ![]() Click for the slightly larger, but just as bad version "But you said there would be planes!" Why yes, yes I did. that is the reason we have these: ![]() Click for the slightly larger, but just as bad version to be specific - these are runways which have been depressed at an angle into the fortress. My worries here are people gaining access to the fortress before the original mission has been completed. I'm thinking maybe a drop into the runway area from the fortress. Opinions/ideas? yes, yes, i know you saw that black circle thing back there and are just incredibly intrigued because this is such an incredible idea with such incredible art, I know The circle is a helipad for one helicopter (open to suggestions here. Thinking either Apache or Hind.) Top-down view: ![]() bigger Basically, during mission one, the attacking team will be spawning at the engrene-style airbase, and attacking the doors of the fortress. The defending team will have access to the front 1/4 and top 1/4 of the fortress (giving them access to the windows on the front, the helipad, and the runways). Just behind the front wall of the fortress will be ramps from the doors in the following general 2D shape: ->-<- Once mission 1 has been cleared, the attacking team will have to blow up something to gain access to the "basement", which is where mission 3 is located. I'm thinking some sort of generator that will open up the entrance to two spiral stairways (or 3, or something totally different) that go down to the basement) So, I'm looking for suggestions and co-conspirators to make this map a bit more than an hours worth of work in sketchup... |
